remove clear rubber pieces at the back of the frame and this will allow the two glass pieces to slide open

What kind of metal is this made from?

Not sure but it’s a high quality frame

I want to fram a comic book--would it be too thick to work in this frame?

If it is pretty then, maybe. You might need to cut the rubber stoppers that come with it or make custom stoppers.

I am wondering about the hardware on the back. To hang it are there one or two hooks?

If i remember correctly there is one. But I'm only 86% sure of that.
