Sharp, pretty, and comfortable
I have a few higher-quality knives, including Wusthof and some Japanese-made VG10 knives. I wanted to try a more budget-friendly knife with good steel to see what the real difference was. This knife was sharper out of the box than any knife I've bought. It could shave hair very easily. Of course the initial edge is only one factor--we'll see how the the retention is, and whether it rusts or otherwise fails--but that first impression matters, and it was good. The knife is heavy for its size, but not overly so. The handle is comfortable and meets the tang perfectly, so the quality control seems good. Overall it feels well made. If it really is AUS10 and real damaacus, I believe it'll perform very well. I only received this knife today, so I may need to update this review as time goes on. Initial impression is that it's a good knife for a good price.

Impressive knife for the price. You won't be disappointed.
Good quality knife. Real damascus blade, holds an edge very well. Asthetically beautiful. The only negative is that the blade is welded to the tang, it is not one solid piece of damascus. That being said i don't plan to use the knife as a pry bar so the tang won't be an issue for me.

So sharp, I'm scared to use it sometimes.
Way better knife than you think. Sharp like a Sword and professional quality. Would buy again.

Beautiful Craftsman Factory Production Product.
This factory finished product is a beauty to behold. Great value for the money. Superior 3 rivet, full tang handle results in a balanced weight and feel. The 62 HRC center apex edge steel and 67 layer "Damascus Layered" steel knife quality, should hold the 12 degree angle sharpness over use.

These knives cut like a dream and are great addition to our kitchen.
My Nakiri knife was the first I have ordered from SHAN ZU and it quickly became my favorite knife to cook with. After a month I decided that we needed their full knife set to replace our 10yr old set. Got the 16 piece set and love it... sharp and durable. Here comes my side opinion on some of the reviews where people are just not too smart. I have read of people giving like 1 star or whatever because they order one of these other 'extra' blades and complain that there is no place to put it in the block. - Come on... 16 blade block was DESIGNED.... you guessed it... for 16 blades that come with the 'kit'. Anyhow... this is where I laugh at folks that expect everything to be just 'a given'.... NOPE. Try thinking outside of the block. I have 2 extra knives and just used a simple trick to put them on the block. MAGNETS ! Yup... so simple and works great with the block. Got this knife on one side, and the new cleaver on other side. If you didn't know better, this would appear to be how it was meant to be. Works perfect for us and magnets do not scratch the knife when you pull them off, and the way I put them on, you are not going to get cut unless you are careless. (one reviewer complained that most people don't store knives in boxes and was worried that his wife would cut herself if it was in a drawer) Anyhow... you can find the Super Strong Neodymium Disc Magnets for $10. Do NOT use the weak adhesive discs that come with them, will fall off in a week or less. I used 16 pack, 3M VHB 5952 Foam Tape, Double-Sided Heavy Duty Mounting Tape for $6 and they have stayed put for over a year. - Also.. use 2 per blade, knifes are beefy and just one magnet will let the blade bow to gravity's will. Hope this all helps... love these knives and with good care, they will last a real long time. Oh yeah... last thing, when you get one or more of these, hold it blade up and then drop a piece of paper down on it. You will be happy to see what happens. (No it won't cut the entire paper, but half way works for me on an out of box knife)

UPDATED - Everything they said it is and more
I do A LOT of fruits and vegetables per week. Just carrots alone, I prep 8 to 10 lbs. where we have a dog with extensive food allergies and I have to do food for her. Then on top of that there's all the prep for the rest of us in the house. I was getting fatigued using a Chef's knife and having problems with vegetables splitting into irregular cuts (no matter how sharp my Chef's knife was). After researching Nakiri knives I decided to invest in one. So incredibly grateful I did. This knife cuts with little effort and slices through the thickest vegetables without any hesitation, leaving behind a smooth, even cut. Night and day in terms of Nakiri vs. Chef's knife. Highly recommend it. The knife is well made, well balanced, with a comfortable handle that keeps its comfort no matter how long you're using it for. My new favorite knife! UPDATE - I've had this knife now for just shy of a year. I just sharpened it for the first time since I bought it. This is my MOST USED knife in my kitchen. Its used at least twice a day and a lot of times more than that. The amount of use and the fact that I just now needed to sharpen it says a lot for the quality of steel in the blade. It has no problem holding a sharp edge with extended use. HIGHLY recommend this knife!

Sharp, nice feel
I've bought these knives one at a time as I liked them and wanted more, and also brought one for a friend. All knives except one arrived very sharp, the one which was a little dull only needed a few strokes on the honing rod. Ive used especially the nakiri daily for the past few weeks and it keeps the sharpness very well. They are all the pro damascus series except with the big cleaver I got the classic series. It feels robust and is sharp, though the rivets on the handle (on the classic) isn't perfectly flush, but it's not a bother. I just feel an edge there if I look for it, which I don't feel on the damaskus ones. The wood print on the glass fibre handle is somewhat pixelated - probably a design choice but I'm not a fan of that. Anyways, it's good knives both to use and to look at.

Bel objet !
