Ruffwear, Beacon Safety Light for Dogs, Clear Lake

The following features are great: - very easy to clip to ruffwear harness (and I have two different styles and it works for both) - super bright and the three color options are great bc I can set one color for my one lab and another color for my second lab - very light weight - long battery life - these beacons have never died on me. I have charged them 2-3 times in over a month and we use them every night, several times a night

Love these, have purchased multiple over the years. Use them while walking dogs at night or when letting them out so I can see them in the yard. Has three settings including a bright, blinking, and an energy saver. Durable given that my dogs are rough and tumble.

Great light. Very bright and love how it’s waterproof. Might be a little pricey but works way better than the cheaper ones we have tried on Amazon. Also very well built

I absolutely love Ruffwear and own many dog accessories by this brand. This light is good, but a bit disappointing. The light has some nice features, like three colors (green, blue, and red) and three modes (solid, rapid blinking, and slow glow and fade) for each color. The light is easy to charge and has a good spring type mechanism on the back to attach to a harness, leash, or nearly anywhere. The LEDs are extremely bright, with good battery life. However there are some negative points. First, the LEDs are so bright and not angled well, so they are almost blinding when you are out in the dark and they create light pollution. You obviously can see the light, but it greatly reduces visibility of everything else, which to me is potentially more dangerous than not having the light. I used this to take my dog out to relieve himself late at night and I could not see the ground in front of me. The only setting I found acceptable was the red light on slow pulse, which had less glare and is probably less disruptive for wildlife. I wish there was a brightness adjustment setting, for example only having one or two LEDs lighted versus all of them. Next, the power button is tiny and difficult to operate. You literally have to press it hard with a fingernail to get the light to turn on or change modes. I understand this design might be intentional so the light doesn't turn off accidentally, in case you are using it as a beacon/locator. Next, you press and hold the button to turn it on. I found that sometimes it came on on one color/mode and sometimes it didn't come on at all and then when I clicked it a second time a different color/mode came on. Thus, it seems sometimes it skips some of the light schemes in the sequence. Finally, the shape is cute but not the best for actual visibility. Over all, this would make a good beacon light in an emergency kit and for adventuring. But on most settings it is too bright and the bulbs are not well aligned/angled for every day applications in my opinion.

Obviously I bought this light for the dog, but I found myself using it also. Extra visibility while running or biking. When my usual lights run out of power this light keeps going. I had this on blink for over 8 hours and it still wasn't dead. Even during daylight I feel safer while biking with an active light. The ring on top isn't very reliable, but the clip on it's back hasn't given me issue. It has 3 different colors and a variety of settings. I like my lights rechargeable, and not have to worry about watch batteries that cost almost half the cost of the light itself. Even though my dog stays on leash. I still want him visible when it's dark.

Update: This light is absolute trash. DO NOT WASTE YOUR MONEY. It is now completely dead and will not charge. It didn't even last a year, and I didn't even use it much over the summer. ******* The light itself is nice. I like the size and function of it, it is easy to put on and remove from my dog's harness or pack. Which is good, because I have to do this daily to charge it. The battery only lasts like 45 mins. I dont know if have a bad one, but I definitely wouldn't recommend this to someone at this price.

This is inconvenient and makes me question why Ruffwear hasn’t updated this feature to a more modern connection type. 2. Difficult Charging Port Access: The charging port is located next to the clip, which makes it incredibly difficult to open. I often struggle to get the cover open, especially when in a rush or in dim lighting. 3. Back Clip Design: The back clip is not removable, which adds unnecessary weight to the device. This can be a concern for smaller dogs, as the added weight/ bulk might be uncomfortable for them on a small collar, it is versatile if you want to attach the light to a different part of the harness or leash however it’s in the way if you do not 4. Price: At its price point, the Beacon feels overpriced for what is essentially an outdated and somewhat cumbersome device. I expected a more refined, modern product given Ruffwear’s reputation and the cost. Overall, while the Beacon does improve visibility at night, the product falls short in terms of design, functionality, and value for money. For the price, I expected more modern features and easier usability.

Drei Farben..drei Einstellungen...super hell...perfekt zu befestigen am Geschirr d.h. auch sehr gut bei viel Fell zu sehen...sehr leicht und handlich...ausserdem aufladbarer Akku mit Warnung bevor er leer ist..absolut perfekt und empfehlenswert!

This is a very bright light. If you have a ruff wear harness it has its own loop for the light but can easily be attached to other harnesses or collars. The light has several colours Red Green blues and can either be steady or flashing. It recharges quickly via usb. It is bright especially on the green and blue settings

This light is very effective as a quick visibility option in the dark. It's easy to slip on and off a collar or a harness. The different light modes are useful in different situations, as well as the colours.
