Orbbec Astra Pro shares the same appearance, size, and weight as Orbbec Astra and Orbbec Astra S. The difference is that Astra Pro is optimized for applications that require high RGB stream quality. Astra Pro is world first 3D sensor that can stream 30 FPS HD RGB stream and VGA depth at the same time through USB 2.0. Astra Pro now comes in a bundle with the powerful gestural Interaction SDK by Gestoos. Gestoos let’s you develop and enhance applications with gestural interaction in C++, Java and Processing.

It is a product in development not for general use yet.
This device has great promise but is questionable as it stands now. It needs a good affordable app.

A decent RGB + Depth camera
It's a structured light camera, with all the pros and cons that entails. But it's a solid little sensor that seems to work best indoors at ranges between 2 and 5m. Outside that range the data gets a little noisier, but definitely still usable. Orbbec's SDK support is pretty decent, and the sensor works on Windows, Android, and Linux in a variety of languages, which is always nice.My only real complaints are that they installed an M6 screw in the base instead of a standard 1/4-20 screw (apparently a mistake at the factory in China that will be rectified in future production runs), and the build quality of the hinge on the baseplate isn't as good as I'd like. After 18 months of heavy use I've had a few of the hinges start to crack.

s worse? When I emailed Orbbec about the reason why ...
This review is to avoid the pain I had gone through with this product. I didn't purchased this with Amazon, because it didn't ship to my country but they do international shipping through their official website. If you plan to mount this on any kind of camera accessories, such as tripod or camera mount, DON'T buy this. You will unlikely to find any camera mount or tripod that has the M6-7.2 fitting screw, The standard size is 1/4-20 or 3/8-16 UNC threads. As you can imagine my surprise when I tried to fit into a camera mount. It had cost me time and money to rectify this problem. There are adopters out there that can convert M6 to 1/4" but they cost $25 plus international shipping, This is a huge mistake on the part of Orbbrec. What;s worse? When I emailed Orbbec about the reason why would anyone design an M6 mounting hole on any kind of camera device, they said, "we can't help you with the screw size. It was designed that way." Then I did more investigation on my own and found out it was indeed a mistake. They made two factory runs before they caught the problem. It would be so easy for Orbbec to made a retrofit or an adopter, but they just ignored their mistake by sweeping it under the rug. The level on the mounting plate is loosely fit, another bad design. Once pulled out, it can't retract back fully. When pointed downward, making the camera tight on the mount is virtually impossible.
