They work well and are inexpensive for their intended purpose.
They keep the circulated flow from having nasty algae visibly floating around the tank’s water. Let’s be honest here, if you are worried about a critique on a small filter, for a small tank, for small inexpensive fish, you may be worrying about things that don’t matter.

Works great for my 10 gal tank and Aqueon HOB filter!
Works great for my 10 gal HOB filter that came with the tank setup. I only change it once a month I think. Whenever the light to change comes on or if it looks dirty I change it. Water flow is good, not noisy, easy to put in filter, big enough for it and works perfectly!

Bought this for my daughters fish tank and it worked great. It was the perfect size and functioned great for the GloFish Tank. Easy to put in and take out.
