Easy and unique recipes
I bought this book after finding the author's food blog and really liking a lot of the recipes she had posted. I am really glad I did! The book has beautiful photography and the recipes are quite easy to do. Also the tone of the book is rather friendly, which you don't always find with cookbooks. Meaning, some cookbooks can be intimating and overwhelming, particularly when they use the word "gourmet." This cookbook is not that. And I have found the recipes which I have made from the book have been quite tasty and quite unique. And as a person who loves Asian food I enjoy the recipes have a bit of an Asian spin on them, while not being overly "Asian." A good example of this is the spaghetti and meatballs recipe uses panko breadcrumbs in the meatballs, which results in absolutely delicious meatballs!

This is a nice book, although some of the recipes require impossible ...
This is a nice book, although some of the recipes require impossible to acquire ingredients (a minority). Some of the recipes are extremely basic and are included as filler (in my opinion). For instance, I don't need a recipe for glazed carrots. The nice part about this book is that it has nice images of every dish. It's not spectacular, and I am not sure it was worth the price for content I could just get from the author's blog for free, but if you'd like something you can hold in your hands, it's better than a lot of other "pop" cookbooks released in recent years. It's a lot better than cookbooks recently released by FoodTV stars Giada and Rachel Ray. I would say maybe 50% of the recipes are actually things I might care to make. I'd also appreciate large portion sizes on the supplied recipes but I guess they are easy enough to scale up. This book is touted as easy gourmet, but I thought a lot of the dishes would take 90+ minutes of prep time which is not easy to me. I recommend the book with reservations. At least it's not very expensive.

Haven't cooked anything yet, but I can't wait to!
Despite having not made anything yet, I can tell that I'm going to like this cookbook. Here are the reasons:1. There is a picture of every recipe.2. The ingredient layout is reverse (amount on left, ingredient on right) which is unique but I really like that the ingredients are grouped based on the step/part of the recipe.3. The instructions are clear and succinct.4. This is the first cookbook I've owned where the savory dishes enticed me way more than the desserts; and I want to get better at savory cooking! I can't wait to make the butter steak and the curry chicken pot pie!5. The actual design/construction of the book - the spine. It's a paperback book but the way it is constructed allows the pages to open flat. All cookbooks should be made like this!

Easy recipes with mouth-watering food shots!
Love this book! I had come across it in the library and decided to get a copy of my own. My favorite recipe so far is the mushroom orzo that's cooked risotto-style. So easy and quick to prepare and such an elegant dish -- delicious too! This book is filled with beautiful photos that make each dish look so appetizing. Thanks, Stephanie Le! Can't recommend it enough.

Non-intimidating, beautiful photos and design - great gift book, too!
Clear instructions, totally non-intimidating but delicious recipes often with an Asian inspired twist, gorgeous photography and overall modern and fun design - when I was reading through Easy Gourmet, I thought: man, if I had been given this book when I was 18, I would know how to master SO many classic dishes by now. I love the lay-flat binding, too - great in the kitchen! A great gift book as well as a keeper in anyone's kitchen.

A gorgeous looking cookbook. I also love how the binding is designed so that the book will lie flat as you are looking at / using a recipe.
