Dockcase Smart SSD Enclosure is the best SSD Enclosure I have purchased. Its quality build, fast USB 3.2 Gen 2 with up to 10Gbs speeds. I was getting about 850mbs and 850mbs read/write in my testing. What I love is the on screen display of the Status of your SSD, Health, Partition Info, Model Info, Powered on time, PLP status (Yes, PLP, meaning your data is safe in flight and cached and should be written if you lose power or unplug during writing) What is not to love about this SSD Enclosure? I have one complaint, and it's minor. The screen is small, so it's very tough to read the display even with readers on these 53 year old eyes. But that is all I got.. works with most OS's Mac, Android, Windows, Linux, and it worked with iPad OS for me. Highly recommend this drive enclosure.

However, the most interesting feature is that the product comes with a system that supports custom functions.Another product feature is the built-in capacitor, which can provide a 5-second power failure protection time for emergency data backup in case of power failure, which will avoid data loss and hard drive damage. 5 seconds doesn't seem like a long time, but it usually helps avoid most problems. If longer protection is required, DOCKCASE sells the same product that supports 10s power failure protection.The writing speed is really good, and it can keep up with the fastest hard drives on the market, as long as your device has a USB-C port (the power should preferably support more than 15W). It also supports devices with USB-A ports, but it is best to use low-power hard drives, because the maximum power supply capacity of the USB-A port is 7.5W, and high-power hard drives are best connected to USB-C ports.The perfect thermal insulation design can keep the product working at a low temperature. It's one of the best enclosures I've tried recently, and the quality and technology are excellent.

I don't know whose idea it was to add the SSD status and information display onto the enclosure, but it was nothing short of genius. It makes me wonder why other manufacturers haven't done the same. The real-time drive activity, lifespan and performance data is extremely useful. This is the kind of SSD status information that is not built into Windows, and for which you will have to download 3rd party software to get on your SSDs. However, this drive enclosure makes it a no brainer to know exactly what's happening with your SSD.The orientation of the status display can also be rotated, so based on how you position your enclosure when connected to your computer, the status display will always be readable at a glance.It goes without saying that the read/write speeds via the USB type-C 10Gbps cable are also excellent. Not as fast as the SSD installed directly to the motherboard, but the speed is quite similar. Only benchmark software/tests will show a difference in read and write times.All in all, I'm very happy with this purchase.

Perfect device if you need to convert your NVME drive to an external drive. I can't stress enough how solid this design is. It's built tough, and doubles up as heatsink as some of these drives can get toasty. The LED display is slick. The display gives you a bunch of info about the health and speed of the drive. There is a cool feature called PLP which charges a capacitor for so if you have a blip in power it can keep it going for an extra 10 seconds. This is an enclosure I feel safe to travel with and keep my hard drive protected.Installation is super simple. One screw for the cover and another screw for the drive. You simply remove the cover and slide the drive in. Comes with a screw driver and USB C and USB C to A converter

FYI: Speed on older usb3 only 250MB/s, usb3.2 is faster.Works on linux, except for most AMD A10s, same as all fast USB enclosures.Linux: Smartctl needs-d sntrealtekto read SMART data, which is limited.Pros: Supercapacitor! I have not found another that has this! Protect your nvme and your data!Nice display!Clamshell closure!Cons:1. 6 minutes to charge PSP cap!Ok for installs, bad for backup.2. No temperature on display.3. heat sink on the opposite side from the display, needs to stand on long side, but no stand included. Sk hynix hit 57c on sustained read, is ok, much hotter if it falls over flat. Fins should be oriented across and be taller.4. Thermal pad is very hard. Single closure screw cannot apply even pressure. Drives that are not flat (970 pro) may get hot spots.5. Button is recognized but had no effect in linux.

The DockCase NVME caddy is a fantastic product overall. It’s well-built, sleek, and provides excellent protection for my SSD. The design is premium, and it functions as expected. However, the included USB-C cable is unreliable—I experienced connection issues and had to use my own cable to get a stable connection.If DockCase improves the cable quality in future versions, this would be a near-perfect product. As it stands, I still highly recommend the caddy, just be prepared to swap out the cable for a better one.
