Knight Rider - K.I.T.T

Just finished assembling this KITT car from Playmobil and it’s really nice! Very good detail and love the voice functionality of the car. I have a couple of Knight Rider collectibles in my collection, and this one is the “crown jewel” of that collection!

Amazing set!

As someone who is a huge Knight Rider fan and has many models of K.I.T.T. (Knight Industries Two Thousand), this version is quite fun. What makes this model different is that it comes with fun accessories and "LEGO" versions of characters from the series. This is also the first time a toy of K.I.T.T. has been made in his Convertible Mode, which is a nice touch. This is a *slightly* stylized version of K.I.T.T. and intended to have him look as more of a toy than previous models, hence he is not in his standard gloss black but in matte which helps avoid fingerprints. The finger sensor is a bit cumbersome but does work nicely with a bright scanner light and 5 or 6 phrases from the show. Assembly is fun and simple and never overwhelming. You can even fit all three figures inside at the same time. The license plate can flip to a 'false' plate just as it was used in one episode of the series, which is a nice attention to detail added touch. This is also a very nice size for a child or adult to hold and fun to handle. Stickers are easy to apply and there is a nice thorough description of the TV show and characters included in this set. All in all, this is a solid release albeit a bit on the pricey side. Recommended!

Great display toy! Watched the original series growing up in the eighties and this hits the nostalgia button hard!

Years ago my mom used to work for playmobil, so when I saw this I had to have it as a knight rider fan. Looks good the red light works well. Its 1/18 scale so it's a decent size

Like the other Playmobil vehicles that have come out in recent years, this is a nice collectible piece that looks exactly like KITT from the series. It comes with the three main characters--Michael, Devon and Bonnie--and even features the voice of William Daniels in several phrases as KITT. Additionally, there are some accessories like Bonnie's workbench, Devon's desk and a grappling hook attachment. However, while it LOOKS good, there's one major flaw: the activation for the electronic features. Instead of putting a simple switch or button set-up, they decided to put a pressure sensor under the hood. Not only is it difficult to activate, but it's inconsistent when it comes to triggering KITT's phrases. It's also difficult to open the headlights (not that they were ever open much during the show) as you have to really dig and pry at them to flip them up. So a fine looking piece for any Knight Rider fan, but I'd say wait until it's at a discount price before purchasing. It's definitely NOT worth the initial price tag.

This is a fantastic toy that would also be right at home with adults who are fans of the show. Playmobil have done a fantastic job here, and it's clear that they got the right people to work on this project. I bought it for my daughter, who's watching a friend restore a KITT replica, so she wanted to have the same car as he's got. The presentation of the product is really well done, with a nice unboxing experience, a manual that contains a little information about the show, three characters, Devon's desk, Bonnie's work area, and of course, KITT - who talks! Playmobil have done such a good job here, just like they did with Doc Brown's DeLorean from Back to the Future. The only niggle we have is that it's sometimes difficult to get KITT to talk - mostly because the button you press to make him talk isn't really a button. We've found this a bit hit and miss, but overall this is a fantastic toy that pays a huge amount of respect to a classic show from the 80s. The fact that KITT can talk, has a detailed cockpit, and an animated scanner is just the icing on the cake. I was lucky enough to get this at a significant discount, at around £35. At the time I didn't realise it was discounted, but considered that a reasonable price for a (relatively) small toy. However, the normal price is significantly higher, and while I can understand why this is the case (Playmobil took a big gamble making a product that's in a bit of a niche), I find it hard to believe it'd be purchased just for kids alone at that price. The normal price of around £90 puts it squarely in the realm of collectors or those with money to burn. Having said all that though, it's a great product. Playmobil did a fantastic job (it's clear that whomever they got to work on this were huge fans of the show), and I have no regrets. Thank you for doing something different, Playmobil! Now all I need are Street Hawk and Airwolf!
