John Thompson's Modern Course for the Piano - Fourth Grade: Perfect for Beginners Who Started with Teaching Little Fingers!

After years of not having a piano in her home, my 88-year-old mother has a beautiful electronic piano which fits in her tiny apartment. At first her fingers and eyesight were a frustration to her playing. Now, after a month of practice her fingers move more freely, and her eyes have adjusted to reading those tiny dots called notes. She ordered the 3rd, 4th and 5th grade versions of John Thompson's piano books. (She could only find the beginner versions in the local music store.) The first two arrived today and you should have heard her excitement. She said the books were even better than she had expected. I am very grateful these books were available to order on Amazon. I love having a happy Mama.

My piano teacher used these books many many MANY years ago. I was very happy when my nephews teacher also used these books to teach. My nephew is on book 4 and he's really good and enjoys learning. These are timeless and do exactly what they are supposed to do. :)

I grew up using the John Thompson's Modern Course for the Piano books. I still have my mother's books one through three from the forties, but couldn't find the 4th grade one in my mom's house when we closed it up. I am slowly working my way through it. Each book increases in skills and techniques of playing piano. It is just a really nice teaching method.

This is harder than the AMEB's 4th grade and so if you can play these you should ace your AMEB exam. You will need a teacher however and to listen to the original versions of these pieces on cd because they are classical. Tricky ! I love classical music and I love a challenge ! This is only the 4th grade version of these pieces but it has technically difficult things to learn. This is a technical book and not for fun but I love a challenge and I love this book ! I've spent hours trying to master the pieces and I found the challenge great fun ! I loved all the hours that I spent with this book !

This is the nice piano teaching book. But the paper and print quality is not soooo good.

Still very much useful and easy to follow.
