Absolutely works for red mites aka demon parasite!
I should mention that I chose this because I own cats & the standard pyrethrin & permethrin products aren't options for me (super toxic to cats & my cats hang out with my chickens) I've been keeping chickens for 4 years now so maybe that's why I was slow in noticing the signs of a huge red mite infestation; we live in the typically cool & damp Pacific Northwest and have never had them in the past. I still did nighttime checks monthly(ish) and deep coop cleaning every 2/3 weeks with roost & bedding removal done even more frequently.I noticed my girls egg production drop but we'd had a septic field overflow issue & I had suspected that contaminated area where they'd scratch because it was cool & damp & buggy as the culprit. It wasn't until they started avoiding going up to roost at night and were still stomping feet well after dark that I figured it out. I went in around 11pm 4 nights ago and came out literally covered in mites! Nightmare fuel! Another unusually warm & dry summer has made us the perfect ecosystem for these little devil creatures. My girls had pale combs, seemed exhausted and despite that, I never did find mites on my chickens during the day!I spent the entire next day hosing out my coop and stripping it of everything that could be removed. I washed everything with a mixture of 2C warm water, 1 cup cooking oil & 1 generous TBSP dishsoap that I funneled into a spray bottle (keep shaking so the ingredients don't separate) and I saturated every nook, cranny and crevice. Waited 30 minutes and rinsed. I repeated that process 3 times to get mites fleeing from their hidey holes. I let everything dry out then went at the cracks, crevices and roosts with the Davis Spray! It smells lovely and I retreated the cracks and roost ends each evening & every morning there were new dead mites. My ONLY complaint is that a single squirt bottle barely was enough to treat the cracks and roost ends and costs 15$ whereas a gallon of concentrate is 34$ on Tractor Supply and Amazon doesn't offer the larger sized version at all. I will be forced to buy a larger sized Davis concentrate elsewhere as you have to re-treat everything a week later when mite eggs have hatched out. It is a great and very effective product for a very stubborn parasite! My alpha chicken, Carol, laid her first egg in months yesterday only two days after mite treatment and already my bigger hens have better color in their combs & wattle. I used Ivermectin pour on to treat my girls but you can spray the Davis right on them if you prefer!

Excellent product
Our chicken had poultry lice, she was completely infested. First we used an insecticide spray one time and washed her well with dawn soap after. We then had to cut off/pull off all the feathers with the eggs and continued treating her with Davis Pure Planet Poultry non-insecticide spray, for a few days thereafter, just spraying her skin where we'd seen the lice previously. It worked really well and we don't need to wash her as it's non-poisonous. This kills the lice as soon as you spray them. And it has quite a pleasant fragrance. We are very grateful for this excellent product.

Good, but not effective for poultry lice
While others seemed to have some luck with getting rid of poultry lice, this did not work for us. Chicken was rescue and had mild case. Sprayed every 3 days along with cage as well and after 2 weeks the lice load was the same. Switched to another product that was recommended by FB page and they were gone within a couple of days and only 1 application.Did seem to help with the scaly leg mites though on another chicken.

It helped my chicks!
I had a batch of baby chicks that somehow got fleas. We have never had this happen before, and with years of having chickens. We pulled all the chicks out of the coop and put them all into a trough. We then pulled them out one at a time and sprayed each one. I just did 2 small sprays, one on their back and one on their belly, avoiding eyes and beak. I would then disperse it through the rest of their feathers, under wings, etc with my gloved hands. Once done we put them under the heat lamp immediately. The coop area was cleaned, sprayed down, and new bedding. Problem solved! We treated 40 chicks with still quite a bit left.
