SBSHD (#0034H) Sound Blanket For Scroll Compressors

Q: Will this blanket work with Payne 13 Seer (model is PA13NR036)? Unit has Copeland Scroll compressor. I cannot determine compressor size.

If the circumference is less than 26" and the height is no more than 15" this blanket should work, as a former HVAC tech I would also suggest inserting cork/rubber 3/4"X2"X4" underneath each corner of the outside unit (not compressor) to further dampen noise from vibration and lastly lubricate fan if needed.

I think there is something more wrong with your unit. The sound blanket will reduce the sound of your unit while it's running, but doesn't do much to reduce start up noise..

I used the Brimmer sound blanket on both my 3 1/2 and 5 ton units and both have Copeland scroll compressors. But, I am not familiar with the York affinity 8 ton. I would have to assume a large or extra large if the make one. I would remove the top of the AC unit and measure the size of compressor. The universal compressor sound blanket will work with a compressor up to 12 x 12 x 19 inches high and the SBSUD works with a compressor 10 x 10 x 19 inches high. I hope this helps.

I'd use the univeral sound blanket that fits a compressor 12 X 12 X19. The blanket is very forgiving as it comes in two parts. One part drapes over the compressor with four flaps and the second wraps around the compressor and everything is held together with Velcro strap. Easy!
