Doesn't work. Tried several different settings with two of them, reattached many times. Either all poured out or barely dripped. Not worth the aggravation. Throwing it away.

I bought 2 boxes of these for some new rose bushes. The first box looked like it had been opened and returned. One of the units was in pieces. I put it together to match how the other units were put together. They didn't work good at all. It wasn't until I got the second box that I realized that all units in the first box were put together incorrectly. Now that everything is put together right, they work great! I'm glad I got the second box or I would have never known. I would recommend them. A little bit of water for my new roses when I am gone will help a lot this summer.

I bought the Hydrospike Drippers to use to water plants while away on a 10-day vacation. I also bought a package of the traditional water spikes that you screw a plastic bottle onto and holes in the spike allow the water to flow - but you cannot control the amount of water. I used both products for my vacation and liked the idea that the Hydrospikes would deliver a controlled amount of water to plants, rather then flood my plants with a continuous stream of water. I don't however know that all of the Hydrospikes maintained the drip setting I selected - it seemed like 2 of them were dripping at the right amount before I left for vacation, but when I got back had stopped dripping despite the fact that water was still in the plastic bottle and the plant soil was dry. Perhaps a gust of wind or a curious chipmunk bumped the set-up and caused the water dripper to touch the soil and get clogged or hit the bottle so that the hose got a small "crimp" in it that prevented the water from flowing. Although, this is just giving the product the benefit of the doubt as I could not visibly tell that anything was moved or disturbed at all, which may mean it's a product flaw.I think it's important to test this product out for a few days, following the directions carefully, to see if you get the desired results before leaving for vacation. Considering that I live in the South and that without any watering, my plants would have absolutely died while I was away - I do think that the Hydrospikes helped keep most of the plants alive. Again, I used these spikes in combination with the more traditional watering spikes to keep my bases covered and plants alive and well. All in all, I was happy with both products and will continue to use both.

The automatic dripper device seems quite easy to install except for the designated plastic bottles that are supposed to be used to hold the water. The instructions show that the bottom part of the bottle has to be cut off -- I assume so the water goes down evenly, but only the smaller bottles can be cut at the bottom. For the larger bottles they direct you to use, such as the Essentia (1.5 liter), the plastic bottle is so strong that the bottom will not come out. I have used an ice pick, a sharp pointed knife, scissors, and any other sharp tool I can get my hands on. If the seller or anyone has a suggestion as to what tool to use to cut out the bottom, it was be much appreciated. The Essentia water bottle has the largest volume so I will need it for my bigger pots. Thank you very much in advance!

Functionality:Did not work at all.

While well made, this device has the same issues as many others of the same design. All the water drains very quickly, soaking the plant and overflowing pots. The adjustment numbers really have no influence on the drip rate. It will also leak easily from the water bottle connection which is a loose press fit.OK, so I hot glued the bottle. Then I epoxied over the drip hole and drilled a much smaller one. The design of the dripper meant that the water simply came out of the air inlet slot. I made sure the dripper was vertical since it has a float valve inside, and managed to get the drips slowed to the point that a 2 liter bottle drained in 48 hours. But, this still soaked the large hanging basket plants, overflowed onto the floor, and didn't come near what I'd hoped for during our ten day vacation.I ended up taking the plants down and running feeds from our outdoor drip irrigation system. Pretty much money wasted.

Tried other types but these are the best so far. Regular soda bottles work best and don't leak and come in all sizes so you can do small pots with skinny bottles or use 2 litre for big pots. The only thing is the numbers on the drip adjustment are hard to read so adjust acording to instructions on box before sticking into soil. Give the probes time to fill up and don't jam them to far down into the soil. wait a day and see if you need to change the drip but pull it out first when the bottle is near empty to avoid spills. Make sure you have a drip tray under the plants in case you miscalculate and drip to much water.the instructions on the box tell you a suggested number to set for your size of pot. start with that and change as needed.

Don't expect the kit to be as accurate as Swiss watch. It took me a lot of time to figure out the correct settings to make them (bought 12) working properly because not all appears to be working the same way. On one of them on "3" level the bottle is emptied in less than a day and on another one it just dripping. Before trying one of them for a long period of time I would do some serious testing beforehand
