Measured: Bottom step is 9 3/4 inches from the floor Second lowest step is 19 inches from the floor. Third step is 28 inches from the floor. Highest step is 37 1/8 inches from the floor. Top edge of the upper, top handrail is 64 inches from the floor.

Is the capacity truly 500lbs? I see in one review that it's truly only 330lbs.

It depends which variation you get. I'm around 240lbs, and the the small 3-step ladder rated at 330lbs, and feel quite comfortable on it. The "3 step" version is rated for 500lbs, but the "aluminum 3 step" and the "small 3 step" variants are rated for 330. It says it right in the description for each variant you select.

How do you fold the step ladder close

There is a metal lever about a half inch in width in the middle of the third step which you push down and it will allow you to fold the ladder.

Very sturdy well made

As two members of the older generation this step ladder is very sturdy with wide steps to stand on.Rubber protection on feet useful on hard floors. We have both felt very safe using it and would recommend.

Safety ladders

These step ladders are certainly safer. They are wider and have more stability. The steps are not smooth so feet are less likely to slip or slide.Being larger they require more space and are more cumbersome to move. The major reason why I did not grade 5* is that they were very difficult to set up and stiff to use re: opening and closing.
