Super light, and the typing experience is very nice. I had heard mixed reviews about the typing and keys and was skeptical, but I like how light the keys are and I like the sound. They are also sealed off, so no worries with spilling anything into the keys. Great being able to fold the keyboard back and use as a normal iPad. No trackpad is completely fine. It's not a laptop, I like using the screen as a big phone anyway. No backlit keys doesn't bother me, since I don't look at the keyboard while I type. I would definitely reccomend this to someone over the magic keyboard. It fits my needs much better and is half the price.

I balked at paying the high price, but I couldn’t find a cheap iPad Pro 11 2020 cover that was available in less than 3 weeks due to the coronavirus shipping slowdown on Amazon. After dropping my 10.5 and cracking the screen (open case, no screen protector), I didn’t want to take any chances with this new expensive tablet. I’m so happy I ordered this case (along with a glass screen protector!) and I got it in 2 days. The keyboard works great, no need to connect and reconnect. And you can fold it back for use without the keyboard, especially when in portrait mode. The build is solid. Magnets secure it to the ipad’s front and back, and it feels as sturdy as a small laptop. The keyboard is smaller than my Magic Keyboard but it takes no time at all to get used to this one. Keys aren’t as responsive but you get used to that too if you’re a good old school “typist” like me. I don’t know how Apple made this thing so thin but sturdy. Also love that the outside of the case is not slick or slippery. Feels velvety (not tacky) and secure in the hands or on a surface when folded closed. The only con you might see is the aluminum edges on 3 sides are not covered. But that leaves one long edge open for charging my pencil. I still feel the cost is high and I probably wouldn’t have considered this purchase if there were cheaper cases available in 2 days. But I’m actually glad I had to. And it will be great for travel. In the meantime I may never buy a cheaper everyday case for normal use. I like this one too much!

I bought this unit as a gift for family, but I have one of the 2018 models which is almost identical excluding the larger camera cutout. It significantly enhances the experience of using an iPad. I've have iPads for years before this, and I used the iPad Pro with the Pencil for several months before receiving the keyboard, and it was honestly not useful beyond streaming videos and FaceTiming before I got the keyboard. The addition of this keyboard made chats, emails, notes, reminders, etc actually pleasant to use on the iPad. For one, the hardware keyboard is far faster and lower effort to type passwords. chats, and search terms on, and it also has the advantage of not needing to load up a software keyboard that fills half the screen in landscape. It's also acts as a useful stand when laying it on a table, and a counterweight when laying down on a couch or on the bed. It also does not prevent portrait mode usage, as it will fold away behind the screen and the keys will not register any presses when that occurs. That being said, it is still very expensive. I bought this on sale, so the value is there for me. At full price, it's hard to swallow, but it really is so key for the experience. I considered the Magic Keyboard Folio too, but that doesn't fold backwards and it's significantly more expensive (and has fewer sales). This keyboard does have the relative disadvantage of having only two angles, but it's been sufficient during daily usage. Also, I'd like to note that the key action is quite soft versus full size/laptop keyboards, but it's not a deal breaker for me, and it still significantly adds to the experience. It's far more convenient than needing to pull out a separate bluetooth keyboard. Having this always available and attached to the iPad is a key part of the value proposition versus other keyboards, and it's easy to detach if needed.

Updated after a few days' use. I probably wouldn’t like this keyboard quite so much if I hadn’t spent the last few weeks struggling with a Chesona keyboard, which would not hold a Bluetooth connection to save its life (the company even sent a replacement, which didn’t work any better). I am not sure what the technology is on this keyboard, but it works without Bluetooth, so hallelujah to that. I also like that it’s very lightweight, compared to the Chesona keyboard. That is important to me, but the downside is that I can understand what the other reviewers were complaining about in terms of it not providing much protection. The magnets that hold it to the iPad are not commandingly strong, so if I were to drop it, the keyboard would probably separate from the iPad before or after impact. On the other hand, it will provide protection from scratches and whatnot while it’s in a bag, which is a more likely threat. I bought this rather than the higher priced magic keyboard because I knew I would want to disable the touch pad anyway. Why pay extra for something I don't need or want? That about sums up the good news. The fact that it works is sort of a low bar, so I’m deducting a star for the ridiculous price, and a few other minor annoyances. Typing on it is more than a little awkward. Other reviewers complained that the keyboard is small, but — hello — it’s the same size as the iPad, so it is what it is. But, every few seconds the heel of my left hand would hit the emoji button at the bottom left corner. Fortunately for my sanity, I quickly figured out how to disable that button (in keyboard settings). There are obviously keyboard commands available (there are control, option, and cmd keys) but zero instructions on what they might be. Typical Apple. After a bit of Googling I found out if you hold the "cmd" button down for a few seconds you get a list of at least some of the commands. Who knew? (Maybe Mac users knew this.) I still don't know what the "control" and "option" keys do, though. And, the arrow buttons don't do what it seems like they should do. The main thing I'd want them to do is move around in, e.g., a book on the Kindle app. The left, up, and down buttons don't seem to do anything, while the right button takes you not to the next page, but the next chapter. Not particularly useful. There may be a way of changing what they do, but I haven't figured that out yet either.

I enjoy traveling and I usually bring my MacBook Air with me. I bought iPad Gen 5 to replace my MacBook Air for better portability. This keyboard is very slim for minimal bulk. Plus the keyboard folio is lightweight making travel much more efficient and convenient. It is missing many features when compared to the other keyboards available for iPad but the portability of this keyboard is great for traveling. There is no pointer-mechanism, no function keys, and no shortcut keys. It is a bare minimalist keyboard.

I really don't see this as good value for money, but when you look at the third party options, they requiring charging, and are bulky, I just wanted something simple and lightweight. I waited on this forever because it was too expensive for what it was, but I finally got a sale, and pulled the trigger. I've been super happy with it. It isn't the nicest keyboard, feels a little muddy, but it does work and isn't terrible. It provides good protection on both sides of the tablet. The magnets hold it well, but aren't so much that is a pain to remove. It is a little heavy, so if I'm just reading or messing about, I'll take it off the iPad, but when I'm done it reattaches super easy. No noticeable impact on battery either. I really think it is the best option, hopefully Apple doesn't change the size of their new tablets.

So grateful to have found this OEM IPad case. It is the perfect replacement for the original that was falling apart after many years of service. The only differences are the size and shape of the camera opening and the Apple logo. Pricey, but everything by Apple is.

This really happened. I was returning from a meeting and had my Ipad in the keyboard case in my lap while I shut the car door. I didn’t notice the device fell OUT onto the parking lot. I left. When I got a notice on my other Apple devices that my Ipad wasn’t with me — I used the Find My app to track it down. It was in the spot where I had been parked — with a tire track on it from where I had backed over it. ** SOB ** RIP Ipad. I ordered a new Ipad. When it arrived I cleaned up the keyboard case (tire track wiped off fine) and tried the new Ipad with it just to see if it would work. The keyboard works!!!!! I’m shocked! And delighted! I can’t think of a stronger proof of durability than that.

Before purchasing the Smart Keyboard, I had the Magic Keyboard with the trackpad but ended up selling it to purchase this. While the Magic Keyboard provided a better typing experience, the portability and the ability to turn the device into a writing device had its limitations. First and foremost, it serves as a protective shell, which it cannot do when you use the writing device as you must remove the case. Unless you just use your iPad to type, the Magic Keyboard isn’t worth your time. Now I return to the Smart Keyboard. The texture is unique; the external walls are silicone while the keyboard sports a rough yet soft material. The typing experience can best be described as “muted”. The keys are moderately tactile but mushy and silent in acoustics, which is a somewhat weird combination. The lack of a trackpad may make you yearn for more, but the cheaper price makes up for the sell-off. The ability to fold the case and use it for its original intention is a true selling point for myself and possibly to you. As much as I loved the look of a keyboard case sporting a trackpad, in full honesty, I stopped using the trackpad after a few days. The cheaper yet still relatively expensive price for the Smart Keyboard should be considered. Overall, I recommend the Smart Keyboard. If you must need a pointer, you can always pair the device with a bluetooth wireless mouse.

Product was opened and packaging was dirty. Couldn't tell if this is a second hand product or first. Unbelievable.

This keyboard has been awesome. It is slim so you barely notice it is there when it is closed. The keys take a little getting used to but the fact that it magnets on the bottom as well as the back makes it perfect for typing on your lap and makes it almost seem like a laptop. The fact that it is powered by the iPad means you never have to worry about changing it. I just wish there was a way to have it on a low slope when you flip it backwards and want to write on your IPAD.

Sometimes you come across something you didn’t know existed and probably didn’t know you needed ……until one day you’re looking for something else and this Smart Keyboard thing turns up and 2 minutes later you’ve ordered it. The minute you get it out of the box you know you made the right decision.

It’s an amazing keyboard. But this is my third purchase. The two previous ones died. After about one year of use I receive a notification telling me that the accessory (Keyboard) is not supported by the device (iPad). Then it’s useless except as a cover. If you can get Apple Care on it, that would be worthwhile but I think that’s only available if purchased from Apple.
