This is a very in depth diagnostic tool with the adapters. Does so much more than just pull engine codes. I have borrowed my son’s Autel unit several times over the last 2 years and decided to get one of my own. I have used it on Chrysler, BMW, Porsche, Mercedes and GM products. There is a lot of data available with this tool to view and in some cases adjust. If you are familiar with scan tools and how to navigate this tool is very easy to use. If you are new to using a tool of this nature there is a learning curve, but for the most part you can navigate all the basic functions easily. As with any scan tool the more that you use it the more proficient you will become with it. I mostly work on Ford products and have an IDS for those. Lately I have been getting more requests to work on other make vehicles, so this tool became the most cost effective solution to be able to work with those other makes. With modern computerized vehicles a good quality scan tool is essential to accurate diagnosis of problems and first visit repairs. Parts are way to expensive to just start replacing them hoping that it will fix the issue. With an accurate diagnosis, you replace the part at fault and return the vehicle to service. The more data that the tool can show you, the better you can pinpoint the issue. Diagnosis is not always pull a basic code and replace a part. The better diagnostic tool that you have in your hands will save you time in getting to the correct diagnosis of the issue. Customer service with this tool is very prompt so far.

The Autel MP808BT is a good investment for both professional shops as well as skilled DIY techs. I have been a certified Mechanic for over 15years and owned several generations of scan tools and worked with many brand specific ones. For the money this has been the best one of the non brand specific scan tools I have owned above some other name brand scanners. The subscription renewal is reasonable and the operations and special functions of this tool are adequate to do many factory brand functions. And at a fraction of the cost in both initial purchase as well as updates. It is easy to use and and has been quite accurate on all vehicles I have needed to use it on. It has a good selection of add on equipment in my opinion and also at a fraction of the cost.

I bought this unit to replace a 6 year old MS906BT scan tool. This unit has all the functions of the old one and about 1000 more. It links faster and like I said, Has more capability. Very powerful for it's size, Easy to navigate. I have the maxisys ultra for programming and more in depth work, but I reach for this 99% of the time. Would highly recommend buying from the autel store on amazon for the best price. Had a problem with software update and technical support was quick to respond and resolved my issue on the first try.

I contacted the Autel customer support before the purchase of this scanner to ensure this scanner would be able to perform the functions I needed. Emily J. was very helpful and provided me with a spreadsheet showing which scanner performed which function, specific to each vehicle's description. Her help made all the difference for me to purchase the best scanner for my needs. I have a 2013 GM Flex Fuel vehicle that gets a service engine soon light on occasion. The scanner I have had for a couple years diagnosed the problem, but I could not Reset the error. These Flex Fuel trucks and cars miss calculate the Fuel Composition and Fuel Alcohol %. Very few scanners are capable of resetting this problem. The dealers charge in excess of $100 to reset it. This scanner is able to reset both composition and alcohol%, plus resets LTFT as well. It will pay for itself easily by avoiding dealer charges.
