JJC 35mm Film Negative Digitizing Scanner with LED Light Set for Nikon ES-2

Well made. All the parts fit together well. Plenty of options, so can be configured to operate with any camera, except large format. Scan quality is dependent upon the camera and lens used. It gives excellent results with my Olympus Om1 and Zuiko 60mm macro, far better than the film scanner I was using previously and so much quicker.

Works well, as others have mentioned, there is a bit of lateral movement between the slot for the negative holder and the holder itself as it is pushed/pulled through to move on to the next negative. The negative holder for 35mm film doesn't have any lugs to line up on the sprockets, so you have to place your negatives in very carefully to ensure they are correctly framed in the holder. A good budget choice if you aren't "scanning" hundreds of negatives. Would recommend this product to anyone looking for a solution to digitise negatives.

The kit is very comprehensive and pretty much caters for all lens filter sizes and especially for macro lenses. The parts are either aluminium or plastic, seem robust and fit together well. The light source is good, although it seems a little cold (6000k), but that is easily remedied either on the camera or editing software. The slide carriers for film and slides fit well and position themselves to ensure the photo is central. It represents good value compared with some other systems on the market

A really useful piece of kit if you have loads of old slides. They come out perfectly, so good that you can zoom in to the film grain. I'm using a Nikon ZFc with a 105mm Z Macro lens and I would suggest you really do need a good macro lens to get the best out this. Using extension tubes on a standard (say 50mm) lens just gives god awful chromatic abberation and blurry edges. Its so much quicker and far better quality than using a flat bed scanner (with transparency/negative adaptor). It doesn't do negatives half as well as the scanner though so I just stick to slides with this and scan negs on my Epson V600 which has a dedicated function for negatives. copying negatives I have found you have to invert the colour and then fanny around with colour and exposure correction) The kit comes with a myriad of useful adaptors for virually any lens, they screw on to the filter thread.

At the end of the day this is just a set of extension tubes, adaptors, slide transport and light. Used with a D7100, a 60mm Micro Nikkor f2.8 D it produces excellent results from slides quickly. It's well made. I hesitated at first about adding the light, but it's well worth the modest additional cost if you buy the complete set. The on/off switch with variable power for the LED is also surprisingly useful. I have the hdmi out of the camera onto an adjacent monitor which makes slide positioning much easier, and also use a remote shutter cord. Set camera to aperture priority at f8, ISO 100, and auto focus, with any VR turned off, gives good results. Half the price of the branded item, more versatile, and a great way to restore 50 year old slides. I don't have the Nikon 850, which will deal with negatives directly, so that will be a more tedious conversion.

In the past I made my own negative holder and placed it over the white screen of my phone to photograph with my mirrorless camera using a macro lens. The results were not bad. This product takes a lot of human error out of the equation, provides a good light source, all the adapters to attach to different lenses and negative/slide holders. It all works pretty well, but if I could improve the product I would; not allow a gap between the light source and the negative, use a glass window on the negative holder to keep the negatives absolutely flat.

Tkes a while to set-up but working as intended using a 60mm macro lens. Would be great if packaged with the old digital ice software to quickly remove hairs and spots on the negative. Would be nice to bundled with more negative size holders and maybe one day they might do a holder for the old round kodak mini discs.

Nothing to dislike. Easy to assemble and suitable for most ILC. Though user needs CU or Macro lens.

Très bon kit de numérisation. Utilisé avec un objectif Canon ef-s 60mm, il ne nécessite qu'une seule bague n°2 pour obtenir le rapport 1/1, sans recadrage, contrairement à ce qui est décrit dans les photos. Quel bonheur quand on a des centaines de diapos et négatifs à numériser. Le worflow est grandement simplifié.

Ich bin begeistert! Ich habe gestern das Set bekommen und heute bereits meine ersten 300 (!) Dias kopiert. So macht das Digitalisieren alter Erinnerungen Freude. Mit meiner Canon EOS 5D Mark III mit dem Canon Makro EF 100mm USM ist das Scharfstellen dank LiveView mit Lupenfunktion ein Kinderspiel - notfalls auf das Filmkorn, wenn das Motiv wegen mangelnder Aufnahmequalität nicht scharf genug ist. Die Belichtung lässt sich nicht nur über das mitgelieferte LED-Licht steuern, sondern auch mit den Belichtungseinstellungen (inkl. Farbtemperatur) der Kamera. Da die Daten im raw-Format gespeichert werden, ist ein vielfältiges Nachbearbeiten zur Qualitätsoptimierung möglich, und nicht selten ist das Ergebnis besser als das Original. Staub und Kratzer spielen bei mir kaum eine Rolle, da meine Dias gut geschützt aufbewahrt werden und die Störungen vorwiegend an wolkenlosem Himmel oder ähnlich homogenen Flächen zum Vorschein kommen. Dort können sie leicht retuschiert werden. Im Übrigen geht es mir primär um den Erinnerungswert der Bilder, da sind ein paar Staubkörnchen kein Malheur. Auch das Digitalisieren alter Negative wartet in den kommenden Tagen, Wochen, Monaten... auf mich. Meine Dias sind Gott sei Dank alle in dünne Rahmen (< 2 mm) gefasst, mit dickeren wäre es nicht möglich. Einziges Manko für mich: dass der Diahalter nur 2 Dias gleichzeitig aufnehmen kann. Mit z.B. 5 Stück wäre ein etwas flüssigeres Arbeiten möglich. Als Zubehör für ein entsprechendes Kamera-Objektiv-Setting kann ich dieses Dia-Digitalisierset nur empfehlen! H.W. Nachtrag: Jetzt, 3 Wochen später, habe ich bereits ca. 1500 Dias mit diesem Setting digitalisiert und aufbereitet. Wenn ich so weiter mache, schaffe ich meine 30.000 Dias in eineinhalb Jahren :) Das Fotografieren geht flüssig von der Hand, das Entwickeln aus dem raw-Format geht mit einigen Grundeinstellungen und kleinen individuellen Veränderungen auch zügig. Wenn ich nur die in voller Bildschirmgröße sichtbaren Staubflecken retuschiere, ist das weniger als 1 Minute Arbeit, nur bei den besten Bildern gehe ich es gründlicher an und brauche dann schon einmal 3-5 Minuten für ein Bild. Scanner mit automatischer Staub- und Kratzerentfernung sind da sicher im Vorteil, aber der Vorteil, ein Qualitätsmaximum aus dem raw-Format herauszuholen, wiegt das für mich bei weitem auf. Nach wie vor höchst zufrieden mit diesem äußerst nützlichen Zubehör zu meiner - zugegebenermaßen - professionellen Grundausstattung.
