Mayfair Games Catan: Explorers and Pirates 5-6 Player Extension

I received the core expansion as a Christmas gift. I purchased the 5-6 player add on to allow my gamer group to play all at once. First off the final board layout is huge. Make sure you have a large playing surface. I found what some of the other reviews said about the boarders being thicker than the original Catan boarders to be true. This makes it a little tricky to keep the playing surface intact during set-up and playing. The new additional strategies offer a more in depth game with multiple areas to gain points. We have played this three times, twice with the complete Exploers and Pirates set-up. Make sure to give yourself a solid 2.5-3 hours of play time if you're playing with 5 or 6 players. This has been a great addition to our game line-up. With the overall size and time to play we find it hard to play a second round or completely different game in one night. This still will be one of our go to games because of the depth and variety of strategic options.

This particular expansion is unlike any other Catan game. It's not bad, but it's definitely more time consuming as each player has multiple actions to complete per turn. It's definitely not our favorite, but if you're looking for something completely different, then you'll probably like this expansion. We actually sold our's used because we realized we wouldn't play it enough to make it worth our financial investment in the game and expansion.

as always, Catan brings hours of easy fun! The game is pretty simple to learn and yet there are so many variations that its different every time. The expansion pack was easy to add to my original collection and the instructions were well written.

The size of the new pieces do not fit the previous versions. This makes the gameplay extremely difficult because you are constantly having to fix the board. In addition, this version is not much different than Seafarers of Catan. I wouldn't waste my time on this expansion. This is a great game, but as you add more players it does tend to take longer to play.

We play this game during the holidays with 6 players. It's very enjoyable and everyone loves it!

Bought as a secret Santa gift and it was exactly what he wanted!

The items was missing parts when it arrived we believe 1 whole sheet of punch outs wasn't included.
