Easy install perfect fit and smooth shifting

I recently got back into cycling, and have been refurbishing my old Specialized Rockhopper for commuting and weekend rides. First issue, the old SRAM gripshifts had decayed and left a nasty residue on my hands, and my rear shifter had broken so it only would go between 3 gears. Looking online for a direct replacement, I found this on Amazon. They're cheap, they honestly look a bit cheap (plasticy), but they work great and are surprisingly solidly made. Easy to install (10 minutes work), my only criticism is that it would have been nice if they threw in a cable end to finish the installation job. Other than that, top notch for the part-time cyclist.

It's a basic shifter and works fine with my son's bike. Installation is straight forward. As mentioned in other reviews, cable is a little bit long. I guess manufacturer has to make it longer to fits different sizes of bikes. You can simply cut the cable end to fit your bike. However, the manufacturer should include a least one Cable End Caps tip that would be great.

Needed a triple twist-grip shift replacement for a Trek 7200 Multitrack. This SRAM unit was similar and worked compared to what it was replacing but not identical. Works very well and was very reasonably priced. Installation was easy.

I took a fall on my 1994 Nishiki Ambush mountain bike and ended up breaking the SRAM index twist shifter for the front derailleur. I bought this new MRX twist shifter to replace it. It fits fine, looks fine and was not difficult to install, but it’s not really an index shifter. It has multiple clicks to step it from 1-3, so doesn’t quite work the same and I don’t really like it. I should have just spent a few dollars more and upgraded to a trigger index shifter.

Lightweight, loud clicking noise to announce changes, very long included cable (no housing), cable diameter NOT a cheap mini and is same size as what came with bike, external viewed width on handlebar is same size as what it is replacing (not bigger). Diameter of shifter hole for handlebar insertion was not measured before ordered but it fit, probably a generic size. After putting on bike and switching gears about 20 times the cable stretched a bit (as was expected ). Small readjustment by pulling cable tension and resecuring. Now no problems and appears all good. Am not expecting long lasting super endurance but at this price am well pleased plus use shifter daily.

These are my first SRAM products. The shifters seem to be as well made as the name brand. No instructions are included, but they come with everything you need, so they are easy to install. I suppose if you needed instructions you could go to youtube. They work smoothly and very solid. I just installed them so I can’t say anything about reliability.

They work fine. My only complaint is the plastic is soft and can be dmaged easily if the bike takes a spill or is turned over to work on it. Fair value for the price.
