Apart from pressing the black button, is there something extra to do that I'm not aware of? I cannot get these to link. I'm nearly deaf testing them.

If you are having trouble press the reset button before trying to get them to link. Always press the reset after unsuccessful tries.

I've just sent these ones back as they state mains operated and need wired....can they also be used without being hard wired?

Yes. I have mine fixed using 3M magnetic connections. Very simple to install and interconnect. The magnetic connections means they are easy to move/replace.

Description misleading. I asked for battery operated and been sent mains powered with battery "back-up". In the event of a fire will i be insured?

.these are the ones that people were told to buy at the time they work with bluetooth.and have a 10 year life so once they're done u have to replace them
