Sauder Costa Library Base, Coastal Cottage Cabinet, Office Storage Solution, Entryway Organizer - Chalked Chestnut Finish

This review is for the Sauder Costa Library Base, Coffee Oak finish. I spent about four hours putting this together. That's the longest I've ever spent putting together furniture. The instructions are very well written, but there are a lot of steps. One of the most important things to do is make the proper adjustments to the drawer and doors. For example, when I first put the drawer in, the doors clipped the bottom of it. So I loosened the screws in the drawer rails, shifted the drawer up a little bit and retightened. This is made possible because the holes in the metal rails are large enough to have some play in them. If you have patience and follow the instructions and diagrams carefully, you'll be rewarded with a very sturdy and great looking piece of furniture. I am very happy with it.

We bought this for our bathroom for grooming supplies and daily use items. It was perfect and as an added benefit it matched the existing bathroom fixtures and vanity. It had been awhile since we had bought a Sauder self-assembly piece of furniture and were pleased with the changes that have been made. The drawer glide hardware and adjustable door hinges are very good quality.The use of glue and wood dowels for the legs and top add noticeable strength to the entire cabinet. A previous review stated that the drawer was not deep enough. The drawer sides are 1 and 7/8 inches high but total clearance is 2 and 3/8's and you can easily fit anything in the drawer that is 2 and 1/4 inches thick. My electric razor, in it's pouch, lays on it's side easily without obstructing the closure of the drawer. This is not an outdoor piece of furniture but I do not see the humidity in our bathroom affecting it as we have a window that ventilates the room well. All in all it is a useful, pleasant and welcome addition to the room and my wife and I highly recommend it.

Love the look and functionality of this stand. It is the perfect size for my 20 gal terranium and holds all of my snakes accessories. Color is beautiful. Taking a star off because the box was damaged which unfortunately left a pretty big damaged spot on the bottom side of the top pc. Fortunately it isn't visible from the outside and it doesn't seem to impact the sturdiness. Also the material is not wood, it's processed wood pulp essentially or " engineered wood".

Love this libray base. I use it to hold my printer and printer paper. The upper drawer is great for my extra items such as tape, stamps and other assorted things. My husband assembled it in about an hour. Instructions were "OK". However, he is very good at assembling. He had the tweak the doors a bit to achieve a nice closure. I bought the matching desk and am very pleased with both purchases.

The item looks nice but assembly was horrible. I've put together many self build cabinets over the years and this was one of the worst. Took much longer than expected because the parts did not fit together easily. I had to redrill holes so the drawer would be straight. Half way through the directions stated "This is a good time to refresh your drink". They should have stated get a stronger drink before you throw the cabinet out the window.

This is a bit of a project to put together but once complete, looks nice. Unforunately after almost an hour of aligning, there is just no way to get the doors and drawer to not touch each other. It's an interesting mix of thick and thin panels to form this cabinet. At first I thought it would be pretty nice.. but the hidden cam bolts are hard to align to the top and are easily deformed if you get it wrong. I built this on a level surface with lots of space and it was still challenging. Opening/closing the doors and drawer feels like a cheap cabinet. There isn't much tolerance available to get the drawer to slide out and have the doors open/close. There are no cross bars or overlap so it all has to line up to look right. To me it kind of looks like something is missing between the drawer and doors. But whatever, it works and I had to let go of my high demands of an inexpensive cabinet. It smells like flat pack furniture. If you don't use it, it looks great, but when you open the doors and such, it's apparent this is flat pack import furniture... you're not going to fool anyone. ha. On the bright side, there is a support under the main drawer (so it doesn't bow) and seems sturdy overall.

We actually have 4 of these now. Recently put 2 side by side for a long wall under tv. Sturdy is the key and they are! They’re holding heavy things & the door is a perfect size with easy closure. Love that they aren’t perfect white. More of a worn barnhouse weathered look off white. I uploaded 4 pics. Take a look. These will last for decades. Very well made Sauder brand. I always get nervous buying furniture online but this piece was the exactly the style I was looking for. Assembly was fairly easy. I had some issues with the drawer on top not shutting all the way but I adjusted the door and it was better. The drawer on top is pretty small so don't expect to put much in there. We bought this for show storage so that our puppy wouldn't chew our shoes and it definitely helps. I would recommend because it does look good and it does serve it's purpose. But there was a slight annoyance with installing.

I am so glad I found these. They are exactly what I have been looking for. The colour of the ‘Chalked Washed Chestnut’ is a fresh, clean and airy look. The quality is “Sauder” quality, and I know “Sauder” stands behind its products. I have owned and trusted Sauder pieces since the early 1990’s. We ordered the two matching pieces the same day but since they were coming from two different locations, we expected them to come a few days apart... But no. Instead, they both came on the same day. Double whammy, right? Building one ready-to-assemble (RTA) piece can be daunting, but two, in one day, oh, oh, too much. Well, they went together flawlessly and within about 5 hours they were both built. The advantage was that they were from the same collection so, by building the smaller cabinet first, with the easy-to-follow instructions in under two hours, the larger credenza went quite smoothly. We were replacing a smaller TV stand that had an electric fireplace in it and were a bit disappointed at the thought of losing it. As it turned out though the width of the middle shelves in the Credenza was the same as the old unit and with a bit of tweaking it could be made safe and complete the look we needed to pull the room together. We made sure that the space was going to be safe and have the same airflow as well as distance configuration as had been in our last unit. IF you decide to do anything like this you must FOLLOW THE INSTRUCTIONS THAT ACCOMPANY the electric fireplace. SAFETY is paramount. I do like to clean every corner of the room a few times a year as well as change things up by rearranging the furniture a few times a year. That means moving things around. I do not like needing to empty everything when I do that so I also had my husband add casters to the credenza since it holds the TV and other heavy items. To be sure to not cause any problems with the integrity of the unit and to help with them being slightly hidden the casters are added by using two pieces of 1x3 oak slightly in from the front and back of the bottom across the span of the whole unit. They are slightly lower than the actual legs of the unit so that I can slide it around without any problems. I am very glad that Amazon sells quality products and makes them accessible to people who are not living in larger centres. If you care about buying things "Made In North America" There is a very interesting story behind the "Sauder" furniture and if you want to understand what you are purchasing it is nice to be able to research the company behind the product.
