Worked well on Linux
I bought this to connect up to my Aurora solar inverter. Having the little module separate was helpful because my inverter had similar, so I wired the two together with a bit of old Cat5e network cable. The serial adapter itself “just worked” on Linux and the third-party utility I downloaded was able to grab the data flawlessly.

Used to program door entry kit that required a 485 connection.
Used to program door entry kit that required a 485 connection. Saved buying the rebranded manufacturer lead that was so overpriced it was laughable.

Neat, professional solution for use with a wide range of platforms and solutions.
A neat little device based on the industry lead brand of FTDI’s chipset, ensuring operating system support from early versions of Windows, to Linux and MacOS most having support built in for the chipset in this unit. A breakout adapter board enables easy connection to RS422 & RS485 interfaces, with clear illustrations for connection to single point connection and for multipoint (networked) connections, each in either half or full duplex. The breakout adapter enables you to perform quick connection to the data I/O without soldering DB9 connectors just to ensure a connection is operational. You can of course replace the adapter for an enclosed DB9 connector in the future to ensure your project is secure and looks professional. Any standard communication software (terminal emulator) can be used to read/write to the port, in many cases bespoke software can also use FTDI chipset to ensure a stable connection is available. The product ships with a fully enclosed controller and various cable lengths making it ideal for mobile, as well as static configurations.
