The silicone material is made by the reinforce fiberglass,it is more durable than what we can image.

Q: If I have this on my formica countertop and put a 400º pizza pan on it from oven, will my countertop get damaged?

I don't think that is what it is really used for and I would not want to attempt it. It is large and really great for rolling out bread dough or dough for bread sticks, etc. Even though it is silicone and a nice thickness, I would think that the heat from the pan would penetrate the mat and may do some damage to your countertops. I would use a pot holder instead. Just my thoughts 😊
