I used this hook probe circuit tester when installing a brake controller on my Subaru Outback.I was able to use it to find the correct (and very thin) brake switch wire under the dash in tight quarters and another similar, but larger wire in the back of the car.The hook was helpful to latch on to a wire within a group and to be confident that I was only testing the wire that I selected.Not sure how durable it will be in the long run, but it was valuable to me at the time and a great price.

I would have bet money it was my vehicle electronics not working - ended up it was just a loose bulb on the trailer, this device saved me hours of aggravation and worked exactly as described. I am making sure I always keep this one handy.

The only reason I didn't give it a single star is because I like the coiled cord, which isthe main reason I purchased the tester.The plastic/rubber covering over the alligator clip is very hard!The alligator clip itself is flimsy & bends easily.The metal probe is made out of cheap steel, tip easily bends.Last but not least is that the LED's are so damn small you need a magnifying glass to see them!I changed the alligator clip, threw away the covering & converted it from LED to Incandescent Light Bulb.

This lit up barely once, and then never again. I was using it to test a few small circuits, and it died in the first two seconds of use. Spend the extra couple bucks and get the sturdier 12 volt tester. This on is just too cheap and not worth the money. Luckily they refunded it.
