This worked great fixing my sister's HP laptop where a pulled cord messed up the inside of the jack. Nice to know that HP designed for easy repair vs. being soldered on the motherboard. On our laptop, once bottom cover was off, all it took was to remove 2 hinge screws to get to cord (besides pulling the display cord since the power cord is routed under the display cord). The only issue is that the side of the new jack had what I will call alignment tabs but our laptop only had one side with this tab so I cut off with razor blade. Not a big issue at all.

Installed this in my daughter's HP laptop. Easy installation. Works great.

Nothing wrong with the product, once I trimmed off some residual plastic on the connector, left from the manufacturing process. Once I compared it with the original HP fitting I realized that what I thought were intentional 'ears' on the connector were not ears at all and needed to be removed. Once I did that, the connector slipped straight into the motherboard socket.
