Q: Is this technically a "Parang"? Am looking for one longer than 18 inches?

It's 20"/26' OAL. OAL matters since depending on handle style & grip, it affects your reach too. Traditional Asian parangs have an 'S' curve to the blade/handle & a clip point. This is more a panga style, popular in Africa. The end of the spine is also sharpened for use as a bill hook, or a particularly dramatic point-chop. Very little distal & deep profile at the end gives a tip-heavy balance. It would burn a bit more calories than really necessary for twigs & reeds, but it should really devour tougher branches.
