I have a signature surface pro keyboard which used to charge my surface slim pen 2 without issue, however just recently the keyboard refuses to charge the pen - i thought the pen was dead so i was extremely upset considering the cost of the pen is just under £100! As a last ditch attempt i decided to order this separate slim pen 2 charger, to my great delight the charger charged the pen instantly and i am now able to use my slim pen once again. I would have preferred the charger to be more like a case rather than open, but it is what it is. The price is very high considering what it is - but you are limited in what you can buy if you need to charge the slim pen 2 outside of the signature keyboard case. 5 stars only due to the fact it saved my slim pen from the trash!
