Excellent Comfort, Quality, and Bass
As an owner of Apple AirPod Pro, Max headset, etc, I ordered these to experiment with “bone conduction” technology. So far, I’ve very impressed. Some features that intrigue me: 1. Normally something goes in your ear to restrict outside sound. When I’m working and using these for MS Teams, WebEx, etc - I may want to hear someone in the room talking to me. This new perspective on sound isolation versus allowing environmental sound (also discussed by other users to be safer when outdoors running) is a reason to add these to your sound listening tools. 2. The Bass is thumping! (Literally) against my head. This is the first pair of headphones where I’ve “had” to turn them down a bit. 3. My partner can hear the music. I’ve read other reviews where this technology isolates the sound only to the user - this is not the case. High quality music, but if you turn it up others can hear you. 4. Comfort - perfect. As you can see in my pic, the headset rests comfortably over the ear and lightly touches your cheek bone. Probably the most comfortable headset every owned. 5. Get rid of inside ear devices. The in-ear earbuds and the silicone, rubber, etc have cause me issues with excessive use during the pandemic. (My ear canal skin is now suddenly sensitive to the rubber tips… and yes, I’ve swapped out and tried other products). I had to give my apple AirPod pro set to my partner, who loves them (and I miss them). If you’re looking for something high quality that doesn’t go into your ear, this is perfect. 6. Video conferencing “look”. Visually, they’re hardly noticeable. If you’re conferencing now “at home” during the pandemic and don’t want “headphones” being broadcasted, this is a great option. (I’ll be testing more this week). 7. Bluetooth pairing. While this can be a nightmare, I’ve found this multi-pairing feature (standard on apple headphones) to be perfect. I quickly paired to my iPhone, IPad, and work iPad very easily with no issues. I’ll revise this review of this critical attribute changes. If I have trouble connecting, or staying connected… this product will be returned immediately. 8. Magnetic connection charger. Unique “one of a kind” proprietary cord. Works great, but don’t lose it. 9. The back antenna/connector does not touch your head. It sticks out behind your head. As such, you cannot use them laying down in bed. Well hidden for calls. The only thing I “feel” when wearing these is the light touch on my cheek bones. Overall, I’ll call these an amazing addition to my sound listening tools. I use apple AirPod Max for listening to Dolby Atmos movies and Spatial Audio with superb 3D sound quality. I didn’t purchase Shokz for that reason. I’ll use headphones for entertainment purposes (3D audio), but these Shokz are excellent for everything else. If you want high quality, lightweight, versatile headphones that allow others to talk to you (not you isolate them out), or hear that car coming when you’re running or biking - these are for you. If you don’t need the “thumping bass”, a lower cost model might suit you perfectly.

Love these for cycling!
I was a little skeptical about these at first, but after talking to others and reading reviews, I decided to get these. I have to say, I really love these things! I have no problem wearing them with my bike helmet on, and they feel like I'm not wearing anything on my ears. The sound quality is much better than I expected. They are not as good as the best in-ear buds, but they are good enough and the benefits far outweigh the cons. I used to only wear one ear bud, loosely in one ear so that I could be aware of my surroundings while riding. Now I can wear these as-is and hear everything around me while listening to music in stereo at regular the same time. Very cool. These are really a game changer for me! I've also tried these in my home office on Teams and Webex calls and they work great. I can seriously wear them all day with zero discomfort. Some cons: Some people say that they can become useless at high speeds with wind noise. I have not really experienced this problem even at 20-25mph. Maybe this could be a problem on a really windy day at these speeds. I suppose it could be a problem on a long decent as well at higher speeds, but really the climb is where I need some music to get through it sometimes. Another con is if you answer your cell phone while riding (you can do that by tapping the side button) you need to stop or slow down so that both sides can hear each other. And lastly, I wish the charge lasted longer. I can't really use them all day at work and then go on a long bike ride. I do realize though, that the bone conduction technology has to use more energy than standard earbuds to achieve the same volume, so I understand this and am okay with it. (Maybe I'll get another pair some day for my home office!) Other thoughts: My wife bought the OpenFit Open-Ear model after trying these out because she prefers the individual earbuds that do not go around the back of the head. Those are awesome too with possibly slightly better sound quality. But for me I prefer these because I find it much easier to put them on my head, especially because I don't have as much hair as she does. They kind of just fall into place, with no adjustments needed.

Reliable Open-Ear Headphones for Long Outdoor Adventures
I've been using the OpenRun Pro from Shokz, which I bought last year specifically for a long hike up Mt. Adams, Washington—and they absolutely delivered. We started hiking at 4:00 a.m. and didn’t return to camp until around 5:00 p.m. The headphones lasted the entire day and still had about 20% battery remaining at the end. I was very impressed with the battery life; it easily handled a full, demanding day outdoors and did exactly what I needed it to do. Audio quality is solid for open-ear headphones. There isn’t much bass, but the treble is clear and well-defined. When running or hiking outside, you can clearly hear your surroundings—like people calling out as they pass you—which is a big plus for safety. That said, in louder environments with higher ambient noise, the music can become harder to hear. Comfort-wise, these were a big improvement for me. I had the original Shokz model in the past, which caused headaches and discomfort. With the OpenRun Pro, I haven’t experienced any pain or issues at all, even during long sessions. Overall, I’m very satisfied with these headphones—excellent battery life, good comfort, and reliable performance for outdoor activities.

I didn't expect to like these as much as I do.
First the positive.. they are far more comfortable and sound better to me than in ear earbuds. It's surprising how good these sound, and how well they retain clarity and detail even at very low volume levels. I can leave them on all day with no discomfort, and they have the advantage that I can have conversations with coworkers without the need to drop out an earbud every time someone asks me a question. Sound quality is very good, although not as good as say a full coverage headphone. They go the day on a single charge, although they report 'battery medium' at about 30 minutes use so I don't fully trust them yet. They don't interfere with my reading glasses, and I can use a standard phone without the need to remove them. The neutrals.. they don't offer much in the way of controls, but the controls they do offer are simple and work well. Now the negatives.. although the list is short. I absolutely hate the magnetic charger, and this is the only reason for 4 stars instead of 5. I would have gotten something else had I realized they don't use standard type C cables. If you have a collar, the hoop around the back of your head can bump it and move them around a little. Not a big deal, but worth noting. And.. that's IT. I love these things, and unless I specifically want noise reduction of some sort, can't see myself switching back to in ear earbuds. Like ever.

4.5 Stars A quality product that tickles.
Really 4.5 Stars but because I was pleasantly surprised I rounded up to 5. I'm a believer in bone conduction technology now. Sound quality: Really good almost across the board. I wasn't expecting much for bass but it was alright. If you up the volume you might not notice the difference unless you are an audiophile. Unfortunately, by upping the volume you get the vibrating tingling sensation that you feel under your skin. Doesn't bother me, but I can see it being a problem who might be prone to vertigo if they have that kind of sensitivity in their inner ear canal. Or maybe you just don't like being tickled from in front of your ear to your upper jawbone. Weird sensations aside, if you drop the volume to where you are not feeling it under your skin, you may lose some of that low end sound. This can be improved by adjusting the resting point to right in front of your ear (if you have the right sized head to angle the headset that way). Fit for Standard: I have a big head so the conduction portion sits right in front of my ear. Good comfortable fit. Wore overnight with no pain around the ear or around where the strap sits. Doesn't even bother me if I side sleep. I also have glasses and have felt minimal to no awkwardness while using the headset. The only time it feels weird is if they slip and the earpiece on one ear rests on top of the glasses and the other side rests underneath the glasses. But nothing a quick adjustment couldn't fix for me. Battery Life: Played string instrumental covers while I slept lasted 8 hours plus. Told me the battery was still medium... whatever that means. But I never really needed to use it more for 8 hours straight. Range: Pretty good. Not the greatest but far from the worst. Connected to both laptop and Samsung Z Fold 4. With phone, no connection loss outdoors with phone in pants pocket. Indoors I can step away at least 50 ft while losing line of sight around a wall. Two walls pushes it but I have managed a somewhat stable connection if I am close to that 2nd door. Microphone: Loud and clear. I use in Teams meetings and phone calls with no issues. Honestly, I will probably still get the Aftershokz version with the extended mic in the hopes that it will reduce background noise. I work in a high traffic area so the general Shokz mic may pickup other people and background noise too easily. Uses: Used in Teams meetings, workouts, and while I sleep. The open ear is amazing because it helps with situational awareness. I work in a lab and covering both ears is just a safety issue. But I can walk around the laboratory during Teams meetings and still be aware of my surroundings. Same with the gym. Pet Peeve: I hate special or proprietary chargers. Ugh. But magnetic attachments get a mild pass. I just need to buy more cables to stash at home and work. Overall: I was going to deduct a half a star for low end loss and the proprietary charger but honestly even that is overkill considering how well this company engineered bone conduction technology and made everything else pretty high end.

Great headphones.
These are great. You can hear the audio very well and still hear what's going on around you without having anything stuck in your ears. However, if you do need earplugs in while working or something, the sound is even better. I use these on my morning walks to listen to music but still be able to hear traffic or people talking to me if they do. the battery lasts a long time and they charge fairly quickly. They connect via Bluetooth to my phone, which is usually in my left pocket, so when I turn my head to the right sometimes they will glitch out for a second, but nothing major.

These headphones changed my life
I can't speak highly enough of shockz openrun pro (couldn't say about their other ones, I've only had the openrun pros). The open ear bone conduction design is incredible for use during exercise, everyday life, and, especially, work. It's changed the way I work in helping me drown out unnecessary background noise while still being able to interact with and clearly hear people around me. I've never gotten actually -excited- about headphones before, and rarely listened to music because the feel or weight of most of them bothered me so much, but these completely changed that for me. I've enjoyed so much new music in the past year and it's all thanks to these cool little things. I have adhd and mild autism and struggle with overstimulation from noises I can't control, or sometimes even lack of noise, and I work in a customer facing industry, the combination of which has been incredibly overwhelming for me at times. These have allowed me to block out the anxiety of outside noises by playing low volume lofi beats or ambient noise while working while still being able to hear clearly enough to interact with and monitor people constantly for 10+hour shifts, and I work better than I ever have with them. They're comfortable and lightweight. I did have an issue with my first pair on the power/volume button slipping out of place, but am filing a warranty claim for that and hoping to get refunded or replaced. The sound quality is clear, the Bluetooth reaches far, and the mic is surprisingly good, I hate using anything else for phone calls now. I do prefer the minis- I'm a small-ish woman (5'4") and I found the original size was a little big for my head and fit awkwardly around my hair. Controls are simple and actual buttons, not touch, which I prefer, and clarity is pretty good. They'll never be as good sound quality as over the ear headphones or in-ear buds, but they're the only open ear headphones I've tried even remotely worth using. I do wish there was a way to skip songs from the headphones, but ce la vi. Other people really can't hear the music playing on them unless you have the volume very high. The sound quality does go down a bit at higher volumes, but that kind of was expected for headphones that work on vibrations, for me at least, and adjusting the positioning of them on yoir ears/head can help fix that also. Overall, 10/10 would recommend. These things are amazing and will change your life for the better. Worth the buy.

Good as bone conduction gets, but that's not great
I gather that these sound noticeably better than other bone conduction headphones, but those must be worse than mediocre given what I hear with these. 3 stars for mediocre sound, quirky controls, and not great value for the price (~$180 when I bought them, though they are less expensive as of this writing). On multiple scores for this premium-priced model, I'm afraid Shokz over-promises and under-delivers. Details follow. USE CASE (background info, skip ahead to SOUND QUALITY for product comments): My use case for this was a little unusual - I wanted to listen to music from my phone in a car that lacked Bluetooth or aux-in. Headphones seemed unsafe, FM xmitter not a reliable option due to lack of open freqs in my area, and upgrading w/an aftermarket stereo isn't worth it for a 10-yr old car that I plan to sell on fairly soon. I thought bone conduction might be a good solution since it wouldn't block my hearing for traffic sounds, alarms, etc. I read that sound quality wasn't the main strength of these athletic-oriented headphones, so figured I'd splurge and get the OpenRun Pro since it's consistently rated among the best in this category for sound quality (and I was avoiding the cost of a new car stereo after all). SOUND QUALITY: First things first - to my ear the sound quality is perfectly fine for spoken word (audiobooks, podcasts, etc.) but not at all satisfying for music, lacking both bass and high end. In one sense I'm glad I got these because anything with lower quality would be unacceptable for music and I'm not seeing any models consistently rated higher for sound; on the other hand, judged solely for spoken word, perhaps a less pricey option might have sufficed. I think these are probably the worst sounding speakers or headphones on which I even try to listen to music (e.g., the affordable little Photive Hydra waterproof BT speaker I keep in my bathroom is much more pleasing). I've also used these for a few phone calls and they sound great for that. Folks on the other end seem perfectly happy with mic sound. ALTERNATIVE SOLUTION: Shortly after buying this Shokz I got the Oraolo M110 wearable (around the neck) BT speaker, and it worked far better as a car audio solution than the Shokz, mainly due to superior sound quality (while still leaving ears open to hear the surroundings), for about a third of the cost (though in fairness it eventually had other issues). If I'd thought to check that out first I'd never have bought the Shokz and saved myself some money; the Oraolo may not hold a candle to proper over-ear headphones, but its sound quality is head and shoulders above the OpenRun Pro. The Oraolo had some quality problems with its switches that forced me to return it, but a holiday price cut on Sony's premium version of this tech (SRS-NS7) eventually got that to a price (little more than I'd paid for the OpenRun Pro, actually) that I could justify. Anyway, because I use the neck speakers and the Shokz for similar purposes, I'll mention a few points of comparison in the following comments. UTILITY: Despite the above, I do still use the OpenRun Pro with some frequency since I already have them. They're great for listening to podcasts around the house without disturbing others or while driving, you barely notice you're wearing them (if I've paused the sound to deal with an interruption that goes on longer than expected I can completely forget they're on) - on that score they beat anything else I've owned. Being worn directly on the head the sound is unaffected by head movements (an issue for neck speakers). They're not as quiet for folks around you as, e.g., in-ear or over-the-ear headphones, but they're not at all loud in that regard, MUCH quieter than, e.g., neck speakers. Battery life is usable (at least a few hours), but not nearly the 10 hours they claim. They certainly don't last as long as other BT headphones and speakers I have, but all this may be understandable given their size and weight. FEATURES/FUNCTIONS: Apart from sound quality, this is where I have the most gripes. Controls are on both left and right sides, with a single multi-function button on the left speaker used for play/pause/answer (1 click), FF (2 clicks), and REW (3 clicks), and a rocker on the right temple controlling power and volume. The problem with this arrangement is that it's so hard to time the 3 clicks for the rewind/skip-back function that it's nearly useless, with the headphones often doing a FF & pause instead (so of course then you have to REW further...); I usually give up after one try and use my phone or smartwatch. This would all work much better with a rocker switch in the left temple like the one on the right to control FF/REW, leaving the main button on the left speaker dedicated to play/pause/answer. Awful design as it stands. More randomly, the OpenRun Pro sometimes just shuts itself off with an alert tone while in the middle of playing (so not a silence time-out, which they also do) - this seems to happen most often when using it with Roku remote listening, which can be inconvenient. It does power right back up when you hit the right temple rocker switch . I've noticed that this issue is addressed in the Shokz OpenRun troubleshooting guide with a recommendation to "File a warranty claim", but it doesn't happen all that often apart from the Roku app and recovery isn't that problematic. OVERALL: There are some real advantages to this ultra-light non-isolating form factor and I see these are priced below $150 right now, but I'd shop around and check out some reviews for comparable models at lower prices, especially if you'll mainly be listening to podcasts or audiobooks. For music, I really don't think any of these are likely to be much good given the current state of the art.
