Great short blade machete!
Just received this Bare Bones Nata machete and I am digging it! The walnut handle is well done and the grip is ergonomic at least for my hand. The blade came sharpish enough but the steel is quality and the right amount of heft for the design and length. I was looking for a shorter blade machete and this fit my needs. The price point is very reasonable. The sheath is nice enough however I would have preferred a different type belt/ carry attachment but I’ll likely fabricate something else for it though I haven’t given that aspect much thought yet. The machete swings well as I was looking for a blade that’s both long enough and short enough to use in tight wooded areas. Also a blade without a lot of flex like say a Gerber camp machete. I did add a wrist loop of 550 cord though. Overall a solid machete!

Machete or awesome tiny sword?
My father lives out in the woods and needed a good machete for his 'man in the woods' shenanigans. He, and I, were pleasantly surprised to discover that this particular machete is also a beautiful, miniature sword that - when sharpened - is more than up to the task of taking down brush and overgrown branches on both healthy and dead flora. This thing is sturdy, my friends. It arrives fairly sharp, but a couple of passes on a whetstone made it a lean, mean, chopping machine. The blade held up well to repeated blows, and the included belt holster hangs comfortably at waist-height for sheathing and unsheathing. This was exactly what I was hoping for as a gift for my pops. If your dad is also one who likes sharp, choppy things for his odd outdoor hobbies, he would benefit from having this as well.

Well worth the money.
Took it out of the boxes and sheath and went to work on my driveway. Trees and limbs up to 3 in across. About 150 ft alongside of the driveway. Hour and a half worth of work. This is going to last a long time. I did chip it and it will chip. I had a few rocks. Extremely impressed with this small chips that I did get in it for as hard as I was hitting and as cold as it is out right now. 15° frozen trees. A little smaller than I thought. My arms are still tired though. I hope this helps anyone out there God bless.

Looks and feels cool, cuts very well, but arrived dull and the handle can be fatiguing
Title says it all. The design looks cool, and with the way its balanced you can get a lot of momentum going and it cuts stuff very well. You'd think that the grip on the handle would make it more ergonomic, but for some reason it just doesn't work with my hand. It's too blocky and puts my index finger at a weird angle which causes a bit of strain. My friends who tried it had the same experience, though that's not to say everyone will. Maybe there are some hands that it fits well. Fortunately, it feels decent enough when I grip the bottom part of the handle, so it's not a huge deal. Also, not a huge deal, but the blade arrived disappointingly dull. It wasn't quite butter knife levels of dull, but it could barely even cut a piece of paper, and it was not a clean cut. I was able to get it super sharp so it's fine now, just was a bit cumbersome to have to do that when other reviews say it was sharp out of the box. Anyway, I don't want to discourage anyone from buying it, as I'm happy with it overall. It does its job and simply looks cool and feels cool to swing. I would just have preferred for it to come sharpened, and also I would prefer a slightly different grip on the handle.

Much Better Than I Expected
This is a highly practical and great overall tool. I bought it just expecting it to be a useful machete but once I had it in hand I realized it was made to be a versatile tool. For one it's much lighter than you would expect a machete to be, so you're able to carry it around with ease. Secondly it's thick so it holds it's edge well and it's able to do more than just cut away small saplings. Since it's not really a machete and more of a tool, I carry it around on my lawn mower as I'm mowing grass and anything that gets to close to my head I'm able to cut off right there on the spot. I also think it's great for keeping in your barn as a go to for chopping stuff up. It's not to long either, it's just extremely practical, I highly recommend this product!

Sturdy and has held up so far.
Has kept an edge and has worked well. The weight is heavy and stacked on top of the blade due to its wedge shape requiring a little control in your swing but the weight also helps the cut so giving up power in the swing is not an issue to result. Be sure to oil the blade as it will oxidize if you do not and perhaps oiling the wood lightly once in awhile to preserve it and prevent splinters. Handle halves could be better cut and aligned to each other as they are cut slightly small to cover the tang and have variations between the 2 halves so don't match in placment. That said the small mistakes do not interfere with my grip or use.

I'm very happy with it.
It was quite sharp right out of the box. I like the green of the handle and the weight. Chops and splits really well. I really like the chisel end. The only thing I would change if I could (and I might) is to have a little bit of the tang stick out past the back of the handle. I have already proven that I can pound on it with a log to drive the chisel through something without damaging the handle. But I worry that I will crack/split the wood of the handle if I continue to do that. I might remove a small amount of wood from the rear of the handle to prevent cracking the handle in the future.

It's decent, but
i was able to use it to chop into a thin dead tree stump, and it did pretty good, but for stuff like free-standing brush and thorny vines, it struggled to chop. smaller size for carry, which is nice, but is unable to capitalize on its edge due to it being shorter. held up against the tree i was chopping into, but the dead wood was enough to prevent the blade from making deep marks. in a pinch, the Nata will work, but I'd recommend sharpening it first before use.
