DIY CO2 Generator System Aquarium Plant Kit with Gauge Valve

Works like a charm! Setup is super easy, the instructions included are actually super great and helpful, they put in actual work into how to use it. It's still going strong. I guess it takes a bit of fiddling to get the output levels just right, but it's no big deal and I don't think there's any way around a DIY kit. I think this is way better for someone who just wants a slight upgrade to their tank, and isn't trying to go all-out or spend a lot of money. My plants finally pearled!

I just needed a temporary solution. Planted my tank a couple of weeks ago and want to get a boost on the plant growth. So, plan to use the CO2 generator for about a month or so. This contraption is perfect "quick and dirty" solution for me.For the past 3 days, the CO2 generator has been injecting a steady stream of CO2 into my tank. I measure the amount of CO2 injection via a S.T. International Aquarium CO2 Hanging Bubble Counter with Check Valve and a limestone to diffuse the bubbles in lieu of the standard ceramic since I already have it on hand.The needle valve works perfectly. I can dial in on the bubble per second and completely shut it off which is what I do an hour before my lights turn off. And, the meter seems to be functional.

So far, works great. The needle valve isn’t perfect, but for the price, it works. I am replacing it with a solenoid valve so I don’t have to shut it off at night and turn it on every day+readjust bubble count. The system is pretty intuitive and it’s nice to have it all put together for you.*I have the bubble count really low in my video because I was still figuring out how much CO2 I needed. I run it now at 1.5 bps. So this DOES allow for a faster bubble count, not just a slow one as shown in video.

There is no bubble counter which can be frustrating. But the biggest criticism is that it leaks which makes me waste my money on citric acid and baking soda. It makes it last for maybe 3 days at most rather than a month. It builds up so much pressure that over a little while of it being on it let's out too much co2 into the tank. Just very dissapointed in this product.the value for your money is not worth it.

Disappointed. This setup honestly initially worked so well. I was so impressed and very happy with it. My 20 long full of plants was visibly thriving and each batch of “recipe” lasted me at least 10 days. Unfortunately, the adjustment valve suddenly stopped working and now I can no longer turn the flow on. It broke exactly 2 days after the return window which is a bummer. In sum, great product but poorly made.

I've used this for 9 months now. It lasts about 5 days with citric acid and baking soda. It takes some tweaking to get valve to release correct amount of co2, I'd definitely suggest adding a cheap bubble counter to go with it besides obvious 2 liter bottles. The kit is great and otherwise includes everything you need. I would recommend.

Bought this product and it lasted a little less than a year before the valve went bad. The setup itself is actually quite good, and if you can get everything to be gas tight it'll generate CO2 for 2-3 weeks. Other times you're lucky if it lasts a day. But if it's operating correctly it's good. It comes with easy to understand instructions which were much appreciated.However... the valve being used is not the best thing in the world, and it constitutes at least 75% of the value of this kit. It can be difficult to adjust the flow to work correctly, and when the CO2 runs out the water in the bubble counter may back-siphon which I think is what eventually corroded the valve to the point where it can no longer shut off the flow. Replacement valves can cost more than the product itself.It's worth the money in the end, you can get some good use out of it and plants grow very well with it for a fraction of the cost of a real setup. But, this isn't a permanent solution to your CO2 needs

I’m using this for a yeast system so I don’t need the pressure gauge or a second lid, but it works perfectly. The valve is really useful and it seems like the issues people have with it are probably from misuse. It’s easy to misunderstand how it works and the directions aren’t very clear.Since I’m only using one of the bottle caps I could use this for two setups which is a perk. Last note is that I would definitely get a bubble counter with this. It’s super cheap and worth it to be able to see exactly how much (or how little) co2 you are putting out.

Buen sistema casero de CO2, el instructivo está en inglés y al primer intento cuesta trabajo entender.Sirve muy bien para un acuario plantado.Lo único malo es que no viene con el imán para subir y bajar la perilla que se supone debe venir para interrumpir la mezcla de ácido cítrico y bicarbonato

Okay, I am NOT using this for an aquarium. I have two hooked up in parallel for a 4X8 grow tent. I knew that one alone used as aquarium Co2 generator might not produce as much as I wanted, or as quickly.The overall lesson I learned, DO NOT MODIFY this thing. It works. You just have to figure out how and why.1. Do not use vinegar - the acid concentration in store bought vinegar is too low for a correct and complete reaction.2. Get a bubble counter - this will show you the rate of CO2 explusion, and help you manage how much you are putting out, it will also catch "backwash" (which should never happen) which is a soda.acid mix coming out the output tubing as a result of a runaway reaction by allowing too much output, too fast. It's nasty to clean out or up. Pipe cleaners are *sortof* useful.3. If you have to release gas (and I had my bottles up to 4) then just gently open the citric acid bottle to bleed the pressure off. My guages, I thought were not working but it was my failure to properly read and trust the instructions and not the fault of the guages.4. RTFM - Read the manual. I initially thought the magnets were weights to keep the citric acid inputs at the bottom of the bottle. They are for the outside, they corrode and rust quickly.5. Clean after each use - it helps. If you use it gently, it should not act (or spit) up. If it does, a good soaking of each part can help (except for the pressure guages). If you get chunkies in there, it is not going to work as expected. I triple rinse the soda bottle after each use.

Le produit en tant que tel n'est pas mauvais. Mais pour X raison, ma valve de contrôle de pression m'a complètement lâché. ce qui fait qu'un taux de co2 était ajouté dans mon aquarium et tout mes poissons sont mort dans la nuit..

I set this baby up and the liquid that rises up through the first needle valve and then the second plastic valve started leaking. It seems this DIY setup will work well if your diffuser can be attached to the piping that comes in this kit directly, otherwise pickup more valves and tubing.
