Original. Review: What a GEM! - I received this cookbook yesterday and started flipping through it and then actually sat down and READ it -- cover to cover! Probably the best cookbook I've found. I love cooking, but as an amateur, I'm sometimes intimidated by the recipe titles, ingredients and directions for fix something. These delicious sounding recipes are concise, easy to follow and the GROCERY LIST! What can I say -- look at a glance and see what you do or don't have and make a quick list for several tasty treats at a time. Now, I live in an EXTREMELY rural area. And as I said, being an amateur, there are several items I've not heard of nor do I have any idea as to where to look for them in the store, or if I'll even be able to find them. HAHA -- but -- that'll be part of my education with this lovely book. Thanks Rocco for bring good recipe ideas to the back country! Review: I love how easy Rocco's recipes are to make - I love how easy Rocco's recipes are to make. They also taste awesome. I just bought his "Pound A Day", "Eat This, Not That" and his lastest cookbook. I am so sold on his way of cooking. The recipes are easy and delicious!!

Worth it - from someone who doesn't like to cook
I was interested after seeing Rocco on the Biggest Loser. I don't usually take the time to cook at home because it seems like too much effort for boring dishes. He makes the recipes easy with a few prepared ingredients but they taste like made by a chef.

Rocc Gets Real
I'm very happy with the book. It is in new condition and arrived quickly. It uses easy to find ingredients, not really expensive. This cookbook is easy to use and and has lots of extra information in it. I would recommend it.

Rocco's a little gourmet for me in this cookbook
I was a little disappointed in this cookbook compared to the comfort cookbook. Rocco is wonderful, but this cookbook is a little too gourmet for me in this one. I like wholesome food and not fancy foods. This one fell short of my expectations. But for someone who likes to cook this way, then it's great for them.

Good recipes, but not one of his more recent "diet" right publications. Still, good recipes.

Cooking Gets Real
I have not tried every recipe in the book, but when I have, the results ranged from bad diner food to mediocre at best. My first Rocco book, and oh my last. The book has the flavor of a let's-throw-this-together project. For instance, Rocco's initial claim is that none of the recipes in the book (dated 2008) costs more than $7.00 to serve four people. I live near a large city and my local markets sell Rocco's specification of filet mignon for $19.95 a pound. That's for starters. Add the other ingredients in the dish and you'll be spending considerably more than $25.00 per recipe. A careful author would not have let this happen. Other aspects of the book include poor photography and even worse graphics. Some pages are quite difficult to read - thin white lettering upon red ink. All this said, I think that the illustrations regarding cookware are neat and simple and could be helpful. What would I have wanted to know before I purchased this product? That the criticisms of the previous book were correct, and Rocco, adorable as he is, may or may not know how to cook.
