10/10 would buy again!
**5.0 out of 5 stars** Instantly became my “sign anything important” pen – the Matte Black Sonnet is pure class Reviewed in the United States on June 15, 2024 Verified Purchase I bought the Parker Sonnet ballpoint in Matte Black with Gold Trim from Amazon on May 3, 2024, because I wanted one grown-up pen that could live in my shirt pocket every day without looking like I’m trying too hard. After six weeks of constant use, it’s officially my favorite pen I’ve ever owned. **What makes it special:** - The matte black lacquer finish is gorgeous in person — understated, almost velvet-like, and it doesn’t show fingerprints or scratches the way glossy pens do. The gold trim is tasteful, not gaudy. It looks expensive without screaming “expensive.” - Perfect weight and balance. At 28 grams it has just enough heft to feel substantial, but it’s not tiring during long writing sessions. The barrel diameter is spot-on for my average-sized hands. - The refill is buttery smooth right out of the box. Parker’s Quinkflow medium black is easily one of the best ballpoint refills on the market — no skipping, no hard starts, even after sitting capped for days. It writes like a gel but never smears. - The click mechanism is crisp and satisfying, with zero side-to-side play. You can tell they’ve been refining this design for decades. - Comes in a really nice gift box, which made me feel a little less guilty about treating myself. **Daily life:** I’m a project manager who signs contracts, marks up prints, and takes meeting notes all day. This pen has replaced every other one in my rotation. Clients constantly comment on it (“Nice pen!”) and it makes even quick scribbles feel a little more deliberate. **One tiny nitpick:** The gold pocket clip is stiff on purpose (so it doesn’t fall out), but it can be a little tough to slide onto thicker shirt pockets or leather planner covers. After a couple weeks it loosened just enough to be perfect. At $92 (what I paid on a Lightning deal), it’s the sweet spot between “cheap daily writer” and “untouchable collector pen.” If you’ve been eyeing a Sonnet, pull the trigger on the matte black/gold version — you’ll reach for it every single time. Already planning to buy the fountain pen version next. Highly, highly recommended.

Great Pen for the Arsenal
Pen looks and feels amazing. The color, shine, weight, and construction are top notch. Not quite the level of Mont Blanc but for 1/5 the price it gives you a very pleasant feel and writing experience. If it’s in your price range I wouldn’t hesitate for a second.

Beautiful
I love the Parker Jotter and take it everywhere with me. But I wanted something more that could compliment that level of intimacy and personal finesse of thinking that one brings to their own writing sessions, and the Sonnet does just that. When I sit down to collect my thoughts for journaling, short stories, poetic compilations, or whatever writing comes to mind, I want to sit down at a comfortable seat, in a properly lit room, with quiet and time to write, and this pen mirrors that feel and brings it to the writing experience. From the texture of the lacquer, to the solidness of the heft, the silent shifting lock of the twist (not a click, but is very very nice), to the overall balance of the weight, this is a complete and beautiful pen. I especially love the thickness which is perfect IMO. It has a slenderness to it, but not at all slim. It's just that right thickness where you're not muscling to grapple it, but not slim enough where you require effort to grip it. If you're tired of thick pens, but don't prefer slim ones and feel you are looking for that right width, the Parker Sonnet hit it right on the mark if you ask me. There's a resting yet assured ease to holding the Sonnet knowing that this can easily handle those long writing sessions. Beautiful. I really like the Quinkflow ink it comes with, but I put the Schmidt Easyflow 9000 M in it, and It is just right IMO. There's many other inks out there to experiment with, which provides the Sonnet with that versatility shared by the Jotter. I feel complete when it comes to my writing tools, having the Jotter and especially now the Sonnet. Beautiful. I love it.
