I am a knife nut and have a few Case Russlocks that I use regularly as an everyday carry knife and I enjoy them very much. I am a hunter, fisherman and trapper, so I had always thought about getting the classic Case Trapper. I really have more than enough specialized knives to handle my trapping needs but the Case was always calling to me. I would probably go 4.5 on the rating but since I can't, I will give it a 5. The finish work is impeccable. My two complaints are first, that there is a very small amount of side to side movement in the main blade in the full open position. For the very reasonable $66.99 price paid here I suppose that is to be expected. The spey blade however, is tight. My second complaint is that the cutting edges are visibly sharpened by a sanding belt and the Case Company video provided here on Amazon shows exactly that. The edge is very sharp but is a little ragged and snaggy. If you drag the blade edge across the edge of a piece of paper very lightly, you can feel all of the irregularities. The attached photo was taken after I retouched the blade on an oiled hard Arkansas stone and stropped the blade on leather rubbed with an abrasive compound. I can't get the belt sanding stripes off of the blade but I have got it to a point where I can no longer feel the snaggy irregularities left by the factory belt sander in the blade edge itself. I realize that most customers probably wouldn't notice the issues that I noticed but a knife nut like myself definitely will. As for functionality, I put it to work right away breasting out three Canada Geese I got while hunting yesterday. The main blade worked well to split the skin and I used the spey blade to separate the skin from the breast. The knife felt good in the hand while working. The longer blades on full-sized Trapper were helpful for preparing birds of this size. Lastly, the Amazon product information states that the blade is Chrome Vanadium but it is not. The blade is clearly stamped SS for Case's Tru-Sharp surgical stainless steel.

Excellent product - Case is worth the extra money compared to the other “legacy” brands!!

I’m in love with my new Case pocket knife. The bone handle not only looks stunning but also feels great in hand, offering a classic and sturdy grip. The blades arrived razor-sharp, ready for immediate use. The knife’s size is perfect! It's compact enough to carry comfortably but large enough to handle cutting tasks easily. This combination of style and functionality makes it a standout choice. Whether for everyday carry or more demanding tasks, this knife delivers excellent performance and aesthetic appeal.

Reminds me of long ago when you had to struggle to find inferior U.S. made products. Case knives are well made and an excellent bargain considering their cost to value. I'm not a collector but many people do collect Case knives. I just needed a well made folder that is pleasing to my eye. The market is literally flooded with cheap knives made with substandard materials and methods that can't be relied upon and in some instances could be dangerous to use. A knife is a tool to me, and only the wealthy can consider buying inferior tools. They are likely to do unexpected damage resulting in additional time and cost necessary to the task attempted. In this case I bought the best tool for the task. A word of advice, never mistake a knife for anything it wasn't made to be, such as a screwdriver or pry bar. Case will sell you a fine quality knife that holds a good edge and works as a knife should. The buyer must supply common sense.
