Old
These cashews arrived looking very nice, but as soon as I opened the package and tasted them, I knew that they were beyond fresh. They are a bit soft and mealy and the flavor is at best diminished, perhaps even a little stale. A notice on the bag says use by March 2015, but probably should have said by March 2014, or even earlier. Always ordering such items on line is a bit of a crap shoot, but these were a disappointment. I will roast what I have left and see if that helps.

Love it!
Organic, very tasty, and also healthy. Cashews are high in calories. 100 g of nuts provide 553 calories. They are packed with soluble dietary fiber, vitamins, minerals and numerous health-promoting phyto-chemicals that help protect from diseases and cancers. They are rich in “heart-friendly” monounsaturated-fatty acids like oleic, and palmitoleic acids. These essential fatty acids help lower harmful LDL-cholesterol while increasing good HDL cholesterol. Research studies suggest that Mediterranean diet, which is rich in monounsaturated fatty acids help to prevent coronary artery disease and strokes by favoring healthy blood lipid profile. Cashew nuts are very rich source of essential minerals. Minerals, especially manganese, potassium, copper, iron, magnesium, zinc and selenium are concentrated in these nuts. A handful of cashew nuts a day in the diet would provide enough of these minerals and prevent deficiency diseases. Selenium is an important micronutrient, which functions as a co-factor for antioxidant enzymes such as Glutathione peroxidases, one of the most powerful antioxidants in the body. Copper is a cofactor for many vital enzymes, including cytochrome c-oxidase and superoxide dismutase (other minerals function as co-factors for this enzyme are manganese and zinc). Zinc is a co-factor in many enzymes that regulate growth and development, sperm generation, digestion and nucleic acid synthesis. Cashews are also rich in many essential vitamins such as pantothenic acid (vitamin B5), pyridoxine (vitamin B-6), riboflavin, and thiamin (vitamin B-1). 100 g nuts provide 0.147 mg or 32% of daily-recommended levels of pyridoxine. Pyridoxine reduces the risk of homocystinuria, and sideroblastic anemia. Niacin helps prevent "pellagra" or dermatitis. Additionally, these vitamins are essential for metabolism of protein, fat, and carbohydrates at cellular levels. Further, the nuts are also containing a small amount of zea-xanthin, an important pigment flavonoid antioxidant, which selectively absorbed into the retinal macula lutea in the eyes. It is thought to provide antioxidant and protective UV ray filtering functions and helps prevent age-related macular degeneration (ARMD) in the elderly. GO ORGANIC!

Ordered 5lbs, received 4.10oz
I ordered the 5lb bag and I weighed it, I received 4.10 oz, not the full 5lbs I paid for. That's a full 1 1/2 cups missing. The cashews are mostly whole and seem fine. They taste a little bland. It came in a gallon size ziplock bag. It's not sealed off in any way. That didn't really matter to me. I personally won't be ordering again because I feel that I've been had because of the weight that was advertised and what I actually received. That's just bad business.

Good organic cashews
Good organic cashews. They seem to be pretty fresh and most have remained whole despite coming all the way from Viet Nam! Someone pointed out that while they say "organic," they do not say "Certified Organic." Can anyone confirm that they really are certified? This 5 lb. bag has gone up in price and shipping. I had to go to the 8 lbs. bag and split with friends to get the $7.25 price again.

The cashews were a good value price-wise and they came promptly
The cashews were a good value price-wise and they came promptly. The reason I rated them as a 3 star is because they were edible ok, but lacked freshness. I was hoping for fresh and these were not stale, but heading that way. Perhaps I got a bag that was exposed to the sun or was not rotated properly. I love cashews and was hoping for real fresh, but was disappointed on that level.

Better than Navitas and all other cashews I ever had.
I have bought quite a few cashews of different brands (planters, navitas, trader joe, kirkland, etc.) from different stores during the last 12 months. If you only had roasted cashews before, I recommend giving raw cashews a try, because they carry a very pleasant creamy sweetness, which will be lost during the roasting process. If you like raw cashews but not quite sure whether these reasonably priced 5lbs raw cashews are fresh and well packaged, what I can say to you is among the raw cashews I have ever tried, so far these are the best.Except for much lower price, the most noticeable difference between these cashews and Navitas is that these cashews have much more "creamy sweetness". I guess this is because they have never been heated during the production process. And you can actually taste a hint of fresh bitterness in these nuts, which can not be found in Navitas cashews. There are some not so good aspects of these nuts (small size, a few broken ones, very few stale ones), but I think they are still quite qualified for five stars. I wish you can have a better bag!

Questionable quality
These are not certified organic. I question whether they are truly raw as claimed, and there is no way to be assured they are actually organic either They taste fine, but they neither look nor taste truly raw. They are small pieces, many with dark brown/black spots and patches and many turn black after soaking for just a short while.

Meh
Bought these after having eaten Navitas Naturals raw organic cashews for over a year. These are smaller, not as soft and fresh, and are slightly greyish in color. They smell raw but not fragrant, rather like they have been sitting around, albeit sealed, for a while. Navitas are currently $13.60/lb on Subscribe and Save after 15% off, while these are $8.84/lb. For me the difference in quality and enjoyment is worth the difference in price.
