Exactly what you think it is. Has been working for almost 2 years now.
Bought it for my daughter's birthday about 2 years ago. Didn't know if it would really last or not but it has lasted with no problem at all. Was concerned that it might discolor over time or that it would stop spinning. It has remained crystal clear and still spins as it should. You do need light to power it, a nightlight in a bedroom isn't enough light to make it spin, however a low wattage bulb in another globe on her desk is enough to make it turn slowly. If you turn on more lights in the room it will move faster. On thing is that you are not supposed to put it in direct sunlight. Not sure why this is, but it isn't a problem for her...if you intend to put it in an office with lots of open windows it might be something to consider. Now I gave it 5 stars because it did what it was supposed to do and we found it on sale for under 100 dollars... If it had cost 300 I probably wouldn't have gotten it for a young kid, but if you want an interesting conversation piece and don't mind the price it will certainly work for that.

Doesnt really rotate
Well I am disappointed, it does not really rotate. The only way I can get it to rotate is if I put it under a lamp within a couple of feet. It rotates really slowly. Sitting on my desk, with all the lights on in the room and a large window within a few feet of the desk during daylight and it still does not rotate. I think I am going to return if I can, these are pricey.... It was an investment, and I figured it would sit on my desk and spin in daylight, but no.... it only spins directly under a lamp.
