Squares could be metal
Works really well, though the squares could be made out of metal and that would make it easier and the soil blocks need to be watered every day otherwise it will dry out and the plants will die, but overall, it is very good

Smooth and we'll made, but..
Smooth and well made, but as a former metal worker, they really tore up those steel bands when making the frame. Those gouges that I photographed are awful. If this was a luxury item it would be a fail in the finish department, but since it is to make nice little blocks with my soil mix, or to say it another way, to play in the mud the finish is just fine. Five stars. It's a tool that is really smooth operating. The little scratches I'm crying about are my obsessiveness. Feel free to ignore. Have a nice day.

Good little gadget. Does what is says. And it's fun
Works pefectly. If you are following the original soil block recipe, just omit the perlite. These are really tiny. The only seeds i would recommend for the mini blocker are peppers and tomatoes. It is great for space saving during germination. But to be honest, tomatoes sprout pretty quickly so it feels like it just takes more time because of needing to pot up right away. I was thinking maybe i will just do it with peppers next year since the super hots can take more time to germinate. But here is the other issue with that. They dry out quickly. Water generously EVERY day. I had days where everything looked moist and i dont want to cause mold or algae to grow so I'd wait till the afternoon. Big mistake. Even the ones that were watered daily, some of the middle sections in my 1020 tray did not make it at all. So next year i think i will stick with the 2" blocks to start all plants. Way less issues with drying out, less time making soil blocks to pot up. I heat pads but honestly can probably get away with just keeping the bedroom/ grow room warm. Since my house holds too much heat and those grow lights make my house feel like a sauna.I'd say my issues would not be a problem if you are only growing for your home garden. But i am starting a nursery. So i have 1000s of plants going. Which means space and time are more greatly impacted.

Great in theory, poor in practice
In theory, this little guys is awesome, but in practice, it doesn't work so well. Mine broke the second time I used it (though I was still able to make it function) until the other side broke today. The soil doesn't "stamp" into the mold and you end up stuffing it in with your fingers. The little blocks tend to dry out pretty quickly and then I transferred seedlings into larger soil blocks and they didn't really go in as neatly as I would have thought and the plants kind of wilted. I really wish it worked well because starting 20 seeds at one time in a very little space is a great idea!

Broke within 2 months
I am very happy with how well seeds germinate and grow using soil blocks. However the third time I sat down to make them the top plunger part broke free of the plastic mold. I managed to stuff them back together and make one more set before it fell apart again. If you look closely it seems the only thing holding them together is a little dibble that lines up. No tack or peg or anything. I'm going to try super glue so I don't waste it, but pretty disappointed especially since I've barely used it.

Worth it.
Very easy to use. Leverage is key, ask my daughter. Lol. . The learning curve is minor. The thickness of the the metal body is more than adequate for the force it takes to make the soil blocks. The plastic base, as of now, is holding up and seems to be ok. The hardness of the plastic could be a bit stronger. If you have a sandy mix then it will start to chew away at the plastic. After the first thousand blocks made there is a noticeable wear, but nothing unexpected. Would give it a 5 star if the plastic was replaced with metal.
