Pleased with this. Easy to install and looks good. Beefy aluminum; feels so much more robust than the original cheap plastic handle that simply fell apart one day. Completely removing the old handle will require some cutting and grinding but this new handle fits pretty well as is so I'm in no rush to trim away the rest of the plastic handle. It's hardly noticeable. This one is completely flat and not curved exactly like the original but one doesn't need that. It is kind of cold to grab on to in the winter so I'm thinking one could wrap it with cotton bicycle handlebar tape, which seems to be available in every conceivable color. A project for another day.

Worked good for 2006 beetle, not direct replacement you do need to cut off existing handle to install these, however these are very sturdy and of good quality, look sporty.

You'll need some tools to make this install look decent, mainly a rotary tool with small cutoff wheel but once complete it is a strong, lasting solution.

Item is flat as the original door handle has a slight curve. You will need to file down existing door handle materiel so this item can be screwed down. This handle would work if your completely missing the door handle

I’ve been pulling my door shut buy the mesh net compartment for years while looking for replacement panels which were either non existent or cost several hundred dollars each for worn out wrong, color panels that may break like mine did. I service VW’s for a living and know that with age this problem is fairly common. My car has 285,000 miles. I had happy to see this repair kit offered on Amazon but waited a year before spending just under $30.00 for the pair. Now that they are in place I regret waiting. This repair kit is reasonably priced and well manufactured. They are aluminum flat handles and include two spacer sleeves and two extended length hex head strews. The before and after pictures tell the story. Total time invested was under 15 minutes. The handles usually don’t break off flush so some trimming was necessary with a dremel tool. Without one a razor knife or cutters could be used instead but not recommended. After trimming the high broken pieces the sheaves are placed into the round slots, the handle held in place and the two screws installed and tightened. If your New Beetle handles are broken do not delay. Purchase a pair of these well made good looking replacements.

Good and cheap

If you want to use these you need to trim the plastic inner handle pieces flat to match the flatness of this product. Most of this aftermarket ones seem to be sold like this but I found a couple on eBay that match the curve without trimming. I’m probably not going to install these.
