A system that works; a book that keeps selling. Since 1959, the Evelyn Wood Program of Dynamic Learning has been successfully employed by hundreds of thousands of people worldwide, helping them break free of the self-imposed shackles that hinder learning. By teaching us to tap the natural power of the mind, the Evelyn Wood method helps us to dramatically increase reading speed, retain more of what we hear and read, improve comprehension and develop our powers of concentration. In just minutes, you'll notice a real difference in your reading speed, and in succeeding chapters of this seven-day program you'll get the secrets of effective note-taking, find tips for instantly improving your writing, and much more.

I thought I could read (and talk) good. But, come to find out, I had so much room to grow!
I was at a point in my life and career that I knew I needed to learn more. However, I had always had a hard time digesting the amount of information I felt appropriate to move forward. I would have great stretches of time where I would consume a book and feel confident, then I wouldn't pick up a book and make significant progress for months trying to read for hours at a time. Part of that was due to my diagnosed ADHD, which I will address in a minute. The book does an excellent job at moving you through the process step by step with solid application. If you take your time, which you should, you will find yourself making progress within the first couple days of applying the first couple steps in reading. I know there are many who are frustrated with the book in comparison to other reading methods or those who have taken a course on this method in particular, but this was very helpful for someone who had never attempted speed-reading before. I had heard some of these perspectives in other places, but this brought them together in an easy to follow process. I read at an average pace of 200-250 words a minute. After the first two chapters I was capable of reading at about 500-650 words a minute. Remember: all of this is a work in progress. I am still finding time to practice the method, but I have retained the 500-650 words a minute speed and can switch back and forth from the 200-250 anytime I wish depending on the material. That is a HUGE improvement. I went from reading a few books a year, one per quarter, to finishing my stack of 6 books within a month. I started this process 6 months before this review was written. I have ADHD. It is hard to stay focused. Come to find out, the way this method approaches brain function in regards to reading makes sense and helps me focus on my reading. My reading has even started becoming a way to cope with hyper-focus. This method has allowed me to utilize my ADHD to further my learning. I don't think I would be able to even consider a master's degree without these tools. If you're wondering where to start in regards to reading improvement, I would suggest you start here. It is worth the money to invest in the first step toward your growth. As a leader of an organization who wants to see his friends grow and succeed, I will be suggesting this method and book to any and all who are looking to grow.
