Mind to Mind (Studies in Consciousness)

Wonderful edition of invaluable resource
Invaluable resource for remote viewers. Preface and introductions by Swann and Targ add greatly. Early experiments and research cited give background into early psi research done in France. This is not something English speakers have ready access to or even knowledge of. Concisely written with plenty of drawings. Each chapter is a gem. These early insights were and are valid. Must read for the remote viewer. Great additions of additional commentary. Esp Targs encouragement of remote viewing as a spiritual practice. This elevates it above the 'psychic spying' co-opting of this core human skill. I suggest you read Experiments in Telepathy after this for a fuller discussion and more examples. But i think this volume is better translated.

If you practice or follow Remote Viewing this book will show you how incredibly far we've come. Almost nothing was known about psi back when this thinking was done in the early part of the century, at least by scientists. Swann, Puthoff and Targ wanted to develop the ability for people to have on-demand, (mostly) noise-free psychic experiences that yielded useful information, something Targ was fond of saying was straight out of the Yoga Sutras by Patanjali. Swann, Puthoff and Targ advanced the "applied" psychic field immensely. The work in Mind to Mind is okay, the experiments are interesting, the speculations were somewhat interesting, the known cases of psi functioning were interesting, but mostly the book raised a lot of questions and pointed out the need for much more research. CRV is light years beyond the work Warcollier did, and it's available to us now, free. I am hugely impressed by the work Swann, Puthoff and Targ did, along with the other contributors. It is nothing short of amazing. So for me this book mostly gives you a historical perspective on how far we've come.

Mind to Mind
Hampton Roads Publishing Company has begun to reissue classical metaphysical texts in their new series, Studies in Consciousness/Russell Targ Editions. Mind to Mind, originally written by telepathy researcher Rene Warcollier, is one of the first classics chosen for the series. Ingo Swann has written a new preface for this edition, noting that while Warcollier's 1948 book is still valid, "it is useful to partially reset Warcollier's seminal work into a larger, and now more inclusive, historical overview." For one thing, little was known in Warcollier's time about psychic phenomena. Additionally, Warcollier's pioneering research has withstood the test of time. Contemporary physicist and psychic researcher Russell Targ, along with Jane Katra, Ph.D., wrote an interpretive introduction, which describes current investigations into remote viewing, distant healing, prayer, and self inquiry. They "conclude that the scientific and spiritual implications of psychic abilities are evident in the continually unfolding mystery of the space-time in which we live." The remainder of the book details Warcollier's meticulous experiments, which provided "impressive scientific evidence for the untapped power of human consciousness." He was a chemical engineer, who became interested in telepathy after studying psychology. He sought to answer questions about what information is actually transmitted during telepathy, how it's transmitted, and its relation to the unconscious. He eventually collaborated with researchers worldwide, including the United States. Mind to Mind is an excellent resource for all readers interested in understanding the foundation and background of research into telepathic phenomena and human consciousness.

Probably the best book on telepathy ever.
Probably the most persuasive book about the reality of the "paranormal" entanglement of minds known as psi or telepathy. Simply put, I read the book many years ago, tried the experiments that Warcollier advocates, and saw for myself that they worked. What more can I say?

Transmission of images by telepathy
Mind to Mind by René Warcollier, 1948; Hampton Roads, Charlottesville, VA, USA, 2001, 144 ff.Transmission of images by telepathyBy Howard JonesThis book is about telepathy - not primarily about successful or fraudulent cases but about the psychology behind the telepathic transmission of images or drawings: `Here is a study of pictorial images typical of the varieties of mental imagery common to mankind. These are the images found in literature, in music, and in other expressions of creative imagination.' This is significant because, it is suggested, telepathic signals are `broken down' after transmission and are re-assembled by the receiver. The nature of the interpretation is therefore dependent on the mind-set of those involved in the telepathic process. The author was a French chemical engineer and parapsychologist. The book is an English translation of Warcollier's La Télepathie of 1921 with some additional material from his lectures and articles. The Preface is written by Ingo Swann, best known for his researches into remote viewing. The author reveals tellingly: `Those who are less sharply divided from one another because they are less developed are most capable of telepathic rapport.' Thus children and members of indigenous tribes are more amenable to communication in this way. Warcollier disputes the conclusion that telepathic individuals need to be related, such as siblings, but does affirm that the individuals involved must have an emotional empathy with one another. This is a fascinating book because it deals almost entirely with remote viewing of pictures and because it suggests that we all may have the propensity to communicate in this way. It's also quite a short read, even with the original work supplemented with additional lecture material. It also provides a unique opportunity to explore the work of France's greatest parapsychologist. I need hardly say that those of the Dawkins School wedded to scientism need not bother to enquire within. For those of open mind, the book is revelatory.Dr Howard A. Jones is the author of The Thoughtful Guide to God (2006) and The Tao of Holism (2008), both published by O Books of Winchester, UK.
