Does it have channel pre sets ?

Yes, it does have channel presets. And, it will scan and automatically set the channels with good reception.

Does the remote provide a mute button?

There are so many buttons on this remote. There are 21 to be exact. A lot of them I have no idea what they mean. But there is a forward or pause button. There's also a repeat button which I really like and volume plus and minus, I really like this little stereo set up. I use it a lot and it works just as well now as when I bought it over a year ago. I wanted to include a photograph of the remote control, but it will only take a video.

Why is the white system more than the black system?

The black one is being discounted.

Does it have a sleep timer ???

I reviewed the operator's manual and don't see any reference for a sleep timer. So, I guess the answer is no. Sorry.
