Yes the back is slightly taller so they roll to the front

Yes and no. Campbell's soup cans it leaves about 1" extra width, but otherwise fits well. Chunky soup fits the width, but the height would be too much to do all cans of Chunky Soup without leaving the cover off. I guess it depends upon what kind of soup and how you want it to fit.
