This is the real deal - worth every penny!
I bought this book on the hopes that they had my single favorite recipe that I've had at Laduree: Vol au vent. I was happy to find that it did. Following their detailed instructions, I made the dish immediately and can verify that it was indeed authentic (tasted exactly like the one I had at their Covent Garden, London location). In my opinion, it was worth every penny for this recipe alone. I haven't tried any others yet, but the ones I've read have excellent tips and tricks and sound simply delectable. The other pleasant surprise was the quality of the book. The image shown here is just the heavy-duty cardboard box that it comes in. The book itself is inside, and the hard cover is wrapped in purple velvet. Furthermore, the pages are heavy-duty and the edges of the pages are silver foiled, with full color pictures of each dish. It is absolutely beautiful and represents the exceptional quality you expect from anything that comes from Laduree.

Gorgeous book!
This is a stunning book.SO beautifully packages and designed, it's an absolute favorite of mine.If you're looking to add a little something special to your cook book library, or are looking for a beautiful gift for that baker friend or French aficionado, or even beginning chef this is a marvelous choice. The size is diminutive in terms of cookbooks, but it comes packages in a lovely keepsake/storage box. The actual book itself unwraps like a present and is so delicate looking it's like holding a written confection in your hand!I honestly don't have a single bad thing to say about this.Laduree is legend, and this book is a must have wether you plan to try out the recipes or just use it as a decorative element in a fine kitchen!

Pure joy!
This little book is a treat for the senses! SPOILER ALERT: the little lilac book comes packaged in a little box and is wrapped in pale pink tissue. The pages have shiny silver edges—it’s just so pretty! I think I’ll probably cook an appetizer or two, but even if I don’t, this is a welcome edition to my collection, and I’ll smile every time I see it on the shelf.

Great book for true lovers of French cuisine
This book is not as good as their pastry book, but i love how they take their pastries and turn them into savory dishes. They have a lot of good recipes for brunches if you are planning to through a fancy brunch. The pictures are just as lovely as the other book. The ingredients have a lot of French products that would be hard to find and some that they just want to promote their store (Like laduree breads). If you know what Laduree is all about and have had their food then this book is for you.

Fantastic Book
Classy from the moment you open the Amazon box. This book is presented in a beautiful Blush Laduree box. The box is just as beautiful as the book. The book is wrapped in tissue and the photos are so beautiful. This book will never go on a shelf. The book and the information are works of art. I realize it is a cookbook but I would never take it in my kitchen. I would not dare mess it up. What a wonderful gift for anyone on your list.

10/10 for styling, MUCH less for content
As many have mentioned, this book is a work of art, absolutely beautiful. The content however, doesn't come close to the appearance.I can't understand who the intended reader is....Novice cooks will be frustrated as the instructions are very basic (or useless) for the most part. e.g. - "shell the lobster" is meaningless for someone who haven't done it before.Experienced/knowledgeable cooks will learn almost nothing new in terms of technique.Perhaps it's supposed to be displayed as a "wow" item, and impress various guests, rather than actually being used as a cookbook. The recipes themselves are all over the place. Some are very basic, e.g. - putting mayo and smoked salmon on white bread and calling it a club sandwich; others require rare or hard to come by ingredients like their own macaroons, or ready-made eclair shells (an item I'd expect such a book to explain in detail). There are a few interesting pairings in the "Gala Dinner" section, like the duck breast with lichi, but not many like that.If you're looking for an upscale cookbook with solid recipes and fancy food, I'd recommend Claridges: The Cookbook. All in all, I'd skip this book. I've given it 3 starts for very few plating/styling ideas, and a number of interesting recipes, but 2.5 would have been a more accurate score.

beautiful book, but...
this is a beautiful book i ordered for my mother, the tea fanatic. it's wrapped in lovely paper and comes in a pink box. mom was thrilled. the only thing was, the cover was on backwards! i guess it was some kind of printing error. anyway the pages inside have lovely photos and the book is otherwise perfect.
