Since this is a waxy product and its been mentioned that it can be washed off...does it rub off easily if touched?

No it does not rub off easily. It cleans up nicely, but when it dries, it stays on the product. Nice shine.

I have a wood art frame that has a gold leaf type patina and i want to use the silver leaf. should i paint over the gold with something first?

You could probably paint over it with white or black paint and then rub the silver on depending on what kind of look you were going for. I would test it on a small area or back first.

can this product be used to repair scratches on my silver nightstand?

Yes, but, depending on the tone and material of the silver finish, it might be difficult to obtain a perfect repair. If the scratches are fine/thin, it will be easier to camouflage. I've had pretty good luck matching existing finishes and you can tone the color a bit with a tiny amount of oil paint, if necessary.

Can this be used on baking dishes that have been etched on the outside? I used Armor Etch but thought this would make the etching standout more.

It would but only if you're not planning to cook with them or bake in them. Rub'n Buff is wax based with a paint thinner or turpentine type vehicle. If you're planning to use dishes for a display only it would be fine, however it would not be something you would use around food.

I initially tried another metallic wax product from Michaels and tried it out while waiting for the Rub n Buff. I had never used either before. The other product was really waxy and difficult to apply and then remove to leave the metallic wax in the grains (sort of a ceruse finish). The Rub n Buff was soooo much easier to apply, remove and then the actual results were fantastic - wayyy better in comparison. I now appreciate why so many "how to's" on the web recommend Rub n Buff. The other amazing thing is how far a tiny amount goes. In comparison to get the same coverage with the other product a huge amount needed to be applied. Don't be fooled by the small amount in the squeeze tube - it will go a very long way.
