The Padcaster Case (Air)

The overall result is pretty great. Its big, rigid and useful. Two issues though. First is a design issue. Its very difficult to wrestle an iPad Air into it. The rubber retainers around the plastic insert are really stiff and it takes all the strength I can muster with my fingertips to pry the surround over the plastic insert corners. Nothing nearly as smooth and positive as the Owle Bubo for my old iPhone 4. But, once in, its easy to remove. I just wish it went back in without another wrestling death match. The second issue is a workmanship inattention issue. While I love the long Helicoil insert for the tripod 1/4-20 main mount on the base, the helicoil didnt go all the way to the base so normal tripod plate screws can't reach the start of the threads. Not a problem for me because I just drilled out a Swiss Arca clone 60mm plate and bolted it on with a 3/4" long 1/4-20 bolt and i have no plans to ever remove it. But really, the 1/4-20 threads should have gone all the way down to the base. I would definitely buy it again because it's really an excellent platform for my mobile iPadography camera rig. I'm hopeful that there will be a version 2.0 that addresses the usability problems I encountered.

Not a good solution for the iPad Air. Padcaster uses an adapter so the Air can fit into this. I don't like it and it looks clunky. The Pascaster itself is very well made and if you are using this for an older iPad then you will like it.

first time use had to get used to placing ipad in the frame. after that it was easy. everyone wondered what i was doing. recorded an hour long video which came out great with the ipad.

The only thing you'll want after buying this is your money back. Why spend this much money for aggravation? The iPad Air doesn't fit. I won't risk my expensive iPad Air in this. It gets one star for fantastic quality for the rest of it. But the adapter has two major flaws one is it doesn't fit the iPad Air correctly. The second is the space it makes between the iPad and the rest of the case. Nothing like adding an extra step to editing your video. Last but not least when you call and ask if they have updated the adapter to work correctly, they will want you to believe that you are the only one having the problem. We need to be able to assign 1/2 star to companies that don't take care of clients properly.

It was too heavy and a little cumbersome in comparison to the Makayama but excellent customer service.

Hello!The Padcaster is a great possibility to mount all the needed things when you will make a video with your iPad.I would have kept it if the mounting of the iPad into the Podcaster would have been more easier.
