Working Refractometer
Easy to use, basic Refractometer. I've had no trouble reading a number of liquids, including wine, tea, home made vanilla extract and fruit juices. Well packaged and in a nice storage case as well. Comes with pipettes, screwdriver, manual and cleaning cloth. (Check under the foam for the manual and cloth).Seems well made.

Excellent value, but understand...
This refractometer feels good in the hand, is easy to use, has no batteries and provides accurate, consistent results. However, you have to understand that if you are using to check the brix/specific gravity of a fermentation, the result will differ from a floating hydrometer. This is due to the additional effect of alcohol in the wort, which affects refraction more than the floating hydrometer. For example, my nearly fully fermented mead SG measured 1.050 on this refractometer, but indicated 1.010 on my floating hydrometer. I rechecked with 2 other refractometers and the results were consistent. The apparent inaccuracy was not the result of a faulty refractometer.

Fast and easy, not accurate at low sugar levels.
Works pretty good at normal fruit sugar levels sg 1.053+ and is fast to use. when it gets towards the lower end of sugar content, you’ll still need a hydrometer.

Working great, but read below
After a few measurements I tried recalibrating but after turning the screw to the right for a bit I could no longer turn left below 5% Brix! So I took the screw out and realized there’s a screw within the screw. Unscrewing the inner screw and replacing the adjustment screw I was able to get it re-calibrated. I wanted to share that first for anyone having this issue; it’s not broken (as I thought at first), you just have to do the above. If the image is blurry you need to turn the eyepiece.Overall it’s a very affordable refractometer. Taking multiple measurements yields identical results. It’s consistent and my wort correction factor (Google if that doesn’t make sense to you) is 1.06 which is pretty close to my hydrometer. You do need a good eye (and a bright light) to read any instrument like this (vs. say digital), but it does what it’s supposed to and I’m happy to put my hydrometer in storage. The carrying case is very sturdy and I appreciate the pipettes and microfiber cloth. Overall I have to give it 5 stars for what it is; a very affordable, reliable, fairly easy to read analog refractometer.

Metal body, rubber where it needs to be, all the tools and instructions included in the plastic box
Metal body, rubber where it needs to be, all the tools and instructions included in the handy plastic box. The refractometer is well made, feels solid to hold with a metal body and will be used for measuring beer original gravity.

Very Nice Quality Refractor!
The media could not be loaded. Just arrived on time and pa lagged packed well. It comes in a sturdy hard case, I really like to help keep things together. It’s made of what feels like strong quality materials some metal some durable rubber, and very hard thick plastics. It’s easy to hold because of its size and it has a none slip grip, that feels great it my hand Instructions Manual is clear and very to readable. It’s in English only. I’m have not used it yet because out of distilled water for calibrating, but I will test the accuracy and update here and report back regarding how functional this device is. But it’s ready to go and small enough to take with you. Very fast shipping!

How the eff do inside this thing?!
Literally zero capable instructions included. I don’t know if I need to charge this, or insert batteries, but there is no clear place where the batteries would be inserted. There is nothing in the user manual about how to actually power this thing on. Notably, also, the button doesn’t work. I really need to measure my honey so I knew if I need to refrigerate it, and this machine does not work at all. It includes very limited instructions that don’t help at all. it is just a piece of junk. Unless someone answers me within 15 hours on how to actually power this thing on, I’m going to just throw it in the trash and get a refund from Amazon.
