I’ve used this many times for cutting scones before baking them. No need for it to go into the oven; it’s for cutting pies etc after baking.

It is made to cut finished pies. It’s metal, but I don’t know why you would want to put it in the oven.

Does it work for an 8" pie?

Yes it will work in a 8 in pie pan.

Will this work in a 9inch pie pan?

It should. I know it will fit but you may need to finish the cut with a knife to the edges. The length of the blade is just over 7” but it is graduated after that point to almost 9”. Hope this helps.
