Helpful For Beginners!
A helpful tool to begin learning how to play the piano and keyboard. It gives you a great background knowledge on the different notes and keys of the piano. I also appreciate the chapter on giving you information that will help your choice with what keyboard to purchase. I especially appreciated the chapter on how to read sheet music. Sheet music is its own language, so the clear directions on how to read it was exceptionally appreciated. For someone who is starting out on this journey of playing, I believe this book has step up for the beginning stages of success!

Its brief structure made it simple to read fast, which I loved. "Piano & Keyboard for Beginners" offers everything you need to get started on the path to becoming a proficient pianist. It takes you to an intermediate level by starting with basic courses like locating notes on the piano and moving on to scales, melodies, and songs. Disappointed
I got this as a gift for my 13 year-old grandson for Christmas. I'll be anxious to hear if he likes it or not. He actually is teaching himself how to play without a teacher at this moment and is doing very well. I just thought he might want to learn how to read music in the meantime. I'm sorry I didn't read the specifics very carefully to learn this book is only half size. AND I did not read ALL of the reviews. Because it is bound and not stapled like a regular music book it will be difficult to set on the music stand and use at the piano, besides the fact that there is not very much actual music. It does seem very thorough, initially thought it would be good, but now not so sure. Did not want to give him a version for a young child, but hoping this is not TOO much, and possible too overwhelming for him.

Learn the basics of playing the piano
This text is a great resource for older students who want to to learn to play the piano by themselves. As a piano teacher, I would not recommend it for younger students as the book moves through the theory very quickly. But if you want to learn some simple songs and add a simple accompaniment, you can figure that out with this book. The chapter on improvisation is pretty good and is a good start if you want to make up your own songs. For all piano students, this is a good reference. I can also use the individual chapters to help illustrate concepts with my younger students. Overall, a good reference!
