Visual kei pushed to another level
After intentionally avoiding any form of exposure to Babymetal since knowing about them last year (even avoiding video links from friends who highly recommend them), I purchased their debut album which compiles the group's singles since 2011.Simply put, while listening to the CD and watching the DVD, I caught myself nodding and tapping to their music. It's a journey of pop, rock, heavy metal, reggae, dubstep, symphonic, and oh yeah, death metal. The opening track of the album only gives a slight hint of what's to come for the next hour. Moving forward, you're peppered with the one combination a particular producer only once dreamed of: cute teenage vocals and heavy, heavy metal. I have a very limited understanding of the Japanese language, but the lyrics don't go too deep into what is usually taken up in the metal genre, instead talking about things a teenager would be dealing with (one of which is bullying). Think about K-On!: their homeroom teacher's metal band but voiced by the original K-On! members. One thing I must admit, the band members who are actually playing the music are very, very talented, who must have played in other bands of the same or similar genre.Things change when I watched the DVD. This is when the visual kei effect comes into play. These are three girls who started singing and dancing to this kind of music when they were 13 and 11 years old. The choreography, production value, and overall feel of the music videos and concerts give the viewer an initial sense of confusion, then either disgust or in my case, utter approval. The girls don't growl and they don't do any windmills (that would be cool though). What they do is sing, dance, jump around and flash hand gestures that seem to mimic and modify the metal horns of Dio.This mixture of genres and visual appeal proved to be a hit. It ends up polarizing purists of the genres they meld, but for the non-purists, general pop crowd, and the few who wished that the j-poppers would rock harder or that the symphonic metal acts of Europe had younger female vocalists, it works.

Best Album of the 21st Century!
Metal Hammer Magazine called BABYMETAL's debut album, "The best album of the 21st Century." They are absolutely right!

much better than I anticipated
I found this group purely by accident in 2011 and it was unsettling to watch but I kind of liked it. I am into many types of music but started out way back in '70s with all kinds of rock groups and progressive rock, vocal rock, jazz, jazz rock, acid jazz, RNB, blues and just different. Eventually, I got into music around the world. That being said just to let you know where I come from. I have had this group as my guilty pleasure for some time. These girls really work hard at being professionals. Just want 2 or 3 live videos and you will see. The band is impressive and hold their own with any rock or metal group. This CD was slickly produced and I have not stopped playing since I got it. Some how I wound up like every song although I did not want to like GIMME CHOCOLATE but it sticks with you. For a first album with a lead singer just in high school I would not have expected it to be so good. They are definitely worth a listen & view.(I got the DVD) Whatever you classify them as it is good, fun, pulsing, get into music. No more guilty pleasure it is blasting from car!!

Awesome album
Very catchy album. If you love your metal like I do then it will probably take a while to grow on you (if it does at all). The first time I watched a few of their songs on youtube, my reaction was..... eh, whatever. Although I did get excited halfway through Ii Ne, but after I watched more videos I realized that's actually a pretty rare moment in their songs... Which left me disappointed! I closed the videos and thought I would never give them another thought. However over the next couple of days I just couldn't get a part of Gimme Chocolate out of my head (despite only listening to it once or twice). When I got home I watched all their videos again and I've loved them since.

Eastern and Western music have merged, and it is both awesome and fun.
Probably one of the (seemingly) oddest, but ultimately most fun bands I've discovered over the years. At first you aren't really sure what to make of this pop/metal music combination..but after listening to this cd, as well some concerts on Youtube, with the great guitar riffs and catchy lyrics (even if you can't understand a word they're saying) I know I'm definitely a fan now, and they're sound can only improve the older and more experienced the girls get. This is an album and band I recommend and I think you should check out.

One of the greatest music act i've ever known
One of the greatest music act i've ever known. The idea of mixing j-pop and death metal produce awesome results. The production of this album is absolutely brilliant, it emphasizes Su-metal singing skills but confer also an extreme metal vibe to all the songs, that are incredibly various and catchy.Babymetal are a real group, better than most of the ultra-ostentatious plastic sound that most of the metalbands use nowadays. This limited edition contains a dvd with various great music clips, a masterpiece dedicated to Babymetal collectors.

Very Cool
I had never planned on buying this version since there's not much difference than the cheap US version, but I bought this reissue to go with my copy of Metal Resistance. This was reprinted as a "Visit To Japan" edition when Babymetal played 2 sold-out nights at the Tokyo Dome. The DVD only has Gimme Chocolate unlike the original version, but this is much cheaper so it's worth getting if you're a collector.

Primer trabajo interesante
