"Let's not just teach our children how to cope and survive, let's guide them in how to stay Mentally Healthy and Thrive " Review: Great mindset development book - a great addition to the 'My Strong Mind' series - This is another great book in the 'My Strong Mind' series. There are elements of the '7 habits of highly effective people' combined with Carol Dweck's 'Mindset' sprinkled throughout this great book, but in a style and format that is easily absorbable for pre-teen children. This is especially evident where the story focuses on what Stephen Covey described as the first foundational habit behind effective people - Be Proactive. The story teaches the young reader how they can be in control of both their emotions and their resultant actions, rather than letting these feelings control them. It also explains in a visual and easily understood way how to become less affected by things that your child cannot change, which again links back to the principles behind Covey's circles of control, influence and concern. I wish this had been available when my boys were younger, as I feel it would have been invaluable in helping them develop a more growth-based mindset. Five stars. Review: Teaches kids emotional resilience - Great child-friendly book talking about how to deal with anger, frustration in a constructive way. Covers lots of angles of the topic and I liked that it introduces things that you can talk about with your child when you're reading the book together (i.e. when they are calm) and then when they are struggling later you can call back to them e.g. "What size is your problem?" or "Is this something you can control?" There's even a section you can fill in with your child to work out their own triggers and what they can do when they are feeling bad, to get them thinking about it proactively.

Helping parents develop a positive attitude in their children
Neils has produce another excellent book which combines stories to which children can relate with learning. Structured in a nice way, they help parents get important messages over to their children. Its a very clever application of the 4Cs mental toughness concept widely used in business, sport, higher education, and mental health/wellbeing.

learning how to think, feel and behave differently...
Great book for teaching children that they can get their mind to work for them rather than against them! This book is perfect for the work I do with children; helping them understand mature concepts such as control & self regulation. Such important areas to explore. Not many other books out there covering these areas for young children. Would highly recommend!
