Activation: Invasion Series, Book 1

Love, love, love this series
Is this a book about an OP main character who is willing to do what it takes to defend humanity? Yes, and I wouldn't have it any other way. It's cliché because its fun and what we all wish we were in our minds... kind of like the old school 80s action films. He starts out as a bad@ss and only proceeds to get stronger from there. Great character development and interesting world building and side characters rounds out these books. My only criticism would be a lack of web presence and promotion from the author, so we don't know when to expect new books, and he really needs to get someone to proofread for typos and grammar. I enjoy these so much, I'd offer to do it for free if I could get a hold of him. All around a fun read, and I can’t wait to see where this overall storyline goes.

Fantastic writing but could use a professional edit
Very interesting and well written with really fun well developed characters and some fun world building.Overall great writing and a fun read that’s a cut above most stuff in the subgenre. Could use some proof reading for some typoes/inconsistent spelling etc. (In one chapter both ork and orc are used). Also just needs a good editor for typoes. But these are ultimately expected issues in promising first book that doesn’t have a traditional publisher.

Good clean killer read
I read a lot of LITRPG.This is one of my first reviews. I loved the story and the romance that didn't go into private details. The only mayor issue I have is the quickly over powered character and the enormously large character sheets and stat leveling. He learned skills and abilities so fast that he never learned how to use them. As an trained operator, he would know to learn and perfect each skill before wildly scooping up every ability with out learning how to use them.

OMG!
Oh my word! This book was AMAZING!! Started off a little slow but by the 5% mark it was moving and never slowed down! Vic is an orphan who is a trouble shorter for the unified earth forces. Humans played with science and opened a portal to another dimension that released magical creatures that came to conquer. For the last 100 years humanity lost and lost badly. We finally figured out how to use mana, got Allie’s in form of dwarves and elves and now we are at a stalemate with the orcs in this war for survival. Vic is on the frontlines of that battle and he’s just been betrayed. He barely escapes with his life, activates his magic for the first time and now he needs to survive and figure out who he can trust. Amazing book 1 and I can’t wait for book 2

Slow start, great finish
I picked this up after finishing the authors Jade Phoenix series, which is a fantastic Cultivation series. I almost stopped reading this book after the first hundred pages, the MC is stuck in a underground cave learning about his new capabilities. Boring! But, it just kept getting better. Action, adventure, political intrigue, fights, betrayals, all the good stuff. I’m hooked, going straight into book 2.

Interesting ideas, well developed
At this point, it becomes very hard to find LitRPG stories with unique elements. Like many, the MC starts as a focused, successful , but fundamentally broken individual. Through a series of weird events, he meets a girl, is granted off-the-charts powers, and builds a “family” of likewise strong, influential people. The antagonists are slavers, evil creatures, and an unknown group of those who possibly are betraying humans as a whole. So, yes, that sounds like a LOT of other books. What makes this a good and somewhat unique read is the depth and breadth of the world and magic/level system. It helps that the MC is mostly likable, but recognizes his strengths and weaknesses.

Good
When the nano consciousness “speaks” it always ends with a “...” and it is really distracting because it feels like the consciousness is just trailing off and the thought is incomplete. One thing that I found a little odd is that Vic was really concerned with hiding his identity and stuff. But then when he was asked by his nano consciousness if he wanted to hide his new titles, he never says he wants to hide them or not. Based on his paranoia in the beginning of the book about people knowing about him, I would assume he would want to hide his titles. But he never says if he does or not. There are a lot of continuity errors throughout the book in regards to the way names are spelled. And there are issues with present and past tense throughout it.Aria annoyed me. She said that she was young to an elf but old to a human, and therefore is mature. She didn’t feel mature. She felt like a mix between a teenager and a younger child.I enjoyed Vic’s character. His absolute focus, and the way he dealt with the different problems throughout the story, were enjoyable. The intrigue of humans selling out humanity is interesting, and I definitely would like to know more. The book was slow towards the end, which was a little annoying, but it picked up right before the end.I like the idea of a sci-fi/fantasy LitRPG. It feels unique. I really liked how simple the character profile was, and I appreciated not being overwhelmed with numbers and statistics.

items descriptions
The item descriptions looks like somebody just cut and paste the first sentence or two over and over again and than it does not describe the items and later in the book the character sheet starts having the same problem with the skills section both of those problems end up cutting into the actual story isn’t it overlaps with the actual words past the descriptionsPlease fixOther than that this book is absolutely fantastic and a real page turner

Great read
So I read the 2 available books of the Jade phoenix saga which I liked very much so I thought to try other books from the same author.Nice, I like this series too so I'm starting the second book right now...

Very interesting
Not my normal type of literature but i kept trying to figure out what was happening in the shadows behind the character in front of everything. There are enough hints and shadows to keep one looking for the meaning behind all of the obvious action. I hope the author has the vision and energy to keep this story going on multiple levels.

Glorious
You when you click on a recommendation and think meh this’ll be awful and then POW you are blown away??? This is one of these…. a great story very well told that is well paced and has such depth that even if our MC is a tad OP it actually doesn’t matter as you enjoy all that is going on.The characters are well written and love the name choices for the towns/cities in the book. Also the world system the author builds is well thought out and although a few wee edits are required they don’t spoil the flow and as I’m reading on KU I can report….🙂All in all this is an excellent read so download and enjoy 😁

Didn't think I'd warm up to it.
But I did! The present tense was very weird for me at the start but I flew through the pages after a bit. Absolutely AMAZING. I can't say enough about the author's skill! This book follows Vic through a story that never looses it's entertainment or depth.Expect a lot of adventure and action with brilliant characters and relationships far deeper than many authors archive without taking the fun out of the book for me.I especially like that the author was obviously open to feedback and that the main character never became weak and controlled by his relationships. And that the character never seemed like an untouchable god at the same time.
