How well do they hold up? Can they handle water? Beach?

They can handle water. I don't like getting sandals wet but shortly after I got them I got caught in about three storms. They were soaking wet. After they dried they look and felt just like new.

Has anyone had an good experience with going a 1/2 size down rather than up? I haven't had good luck for going up a size.

Every type of shoe or sandal are a little different as far as size, especially if you are only adjusting by 1/2 size. My suggestion would be to try the 1/2 size down if you want and as you know, they can always be returned if it does not fit you properly.
